When we arrived at The Ecology Center two weeks ago, it felt immediately like a long-lost home. RBS said to our hostess Caitlyn: “Can we stay here forever?” The Peace Dome itself was a transformational womb of a space, a crucible and cauldron – sonically magical and weird, and opening on one end into a hippie desert compound and on the other end into the fibonacci cornfield of the great cosmic beyond. We loaded our gear barefoot, showered outside, ate delicious hippie pizza and salad.

The crowd was in a really generous mood as Serafima spun out emotive songs on solo guitar and heartbreaking vocals from the well of some of the deeper and subterranean internal themes from Zzzwooieee’s and K’Tangu’s stories. Isaiah, on heavy synths and looped and processed guitar, took the white spaceship into the Sea of Breath and the Sea of Stars, and then deep into Ocean. RBS joined and told the tale of K’Tangu’s visit with Spermwhales, deep, deep in the belly of ocean, while Isaiah made those whales talk and sing. All the while, Serafima’s light projections submerged us, bathed us, made us wondrous and whole.

We’d intended to take questions, but folks seemed overwhelmed by the story and song, so we met everyone instead out in the open lobby – a really delightful time.

We slept in the “cozy trailer”. We got up, tasted the ocean’s breath in the desert air, and rolled out before dawn, headed for Cascadia.

We’re so grateful to have been welcomed to bring The Dolphin Ambassador’s Daughter Rolling Ocean Revue to this magical space – to JZ and Caitlyn, to Evan, and very much to all the volunteers and the cooks and the crew who make the place run and are its beating heart. We feel a part of this extended community now. We’ll be back!

It could not have been a more perfect night for the last night of a transformational tour. More on that soon ...

Friends! We had an amazing time Saturday night (Sept. 16) at Mercury Café in San Francisco, with the excellent Marika Christine (of Space Moth and others) playing a full set of her funny and thoughtful solo tunes. Serafima wowed the crowd with her novel-themed solo set, digging in to the novel’s bigger themes. Bassist Paul Knight (recently seen backing Ramblin’ Jack Elliot at the Bob Weir tribute in January) grounded RBS for a read through a scene in which Zzwooieee and Grandfather travel far and meet some old friends. Paul laid down a groove on the upright and drove the reading into late 1950s S.F. Beat mode ... as space age robo-cars streamed past the plate glass windows on Octavia.

Mercury Café was an appropriate venue, as the novel was written mostly in S.F. cafés — and with many old friends on hand, the gig felt like a proper homecoming ... Dig these vids!

AND people are reading and digging the novel. Order your copy now at brightspiderpress dot com/books! taken in Mercury Cafe, San Francisco by @brightspiderpress

Hi everyone! This Friday at The Ecology Center I’ll be playing mostly original set of music that I’ve written inspired by Richard B. Simon’s new novel, The Dolphin Ambassador’s Daughter. It’s been an interesting experience writing this set of music and so much fun to perform 🥰 Here’s a snippet of the opening of my set that I snapped in the Redwoods this morning - I start it off with a little bit of a My Bubba song called Our Water Hours and then go into a song about the inevitability of things once spoken or thought… and then some:) After my set, Isaiah Mitchell will play some music, also inspired by the book, and Rich will read while Isaiah accompanies him. I think it’s going to be a really great night!

Thank you Winterband - Meg Baird, Ethan Miller, Ben Chasny, Donovan Quinn, & Elisa Ambroglio - for bringing the heavy psych drama, flourish, and oceanic squall to a challenging scene in a wrapt intimate crowd with great vibes and equally great tacos. Thanks to the good folks at Richard’s Goat. Deeply honored to make joyful noise with such artists as these. I am quite grateful. by @brightspiderpress

Some words from Richard B. Simon, author of The Dolphin Ambassador’s Daughter.

A night of Good Medicine in the Peace Dome.

More than a reading. A world to step into.

Next Friday, author Richard B. Simon brings The Dolphin Ambassador’s Daughter to the Peace Dome for a live reading from his ecological fantasy novel.

Alongside him, Isaiah Mitchell + Serafima will perform music inspired by the story, creating a soundtrack as the night unfolds. And somewhere along the way, the line between reading a story and being inside of one gets a little blurry.

Part reading. Part live music. Quite otherworldly.

On Sept. 15th, Richard B. Simon, will be reading at The Miniplex from his new novel, The Dolphin Ambassador’s Daughter, with music from Winter Band & Serafima 🌀🌀🌀 So excited to tell this story in Humboldt. The redwoods, the whales, the thick and ancient loam, the sky thick blue with grey, the iron churning bluegreen sea. The secret heart of deep ecology. The wellspring. The source of nature’s love eternal, with lavish psychedelic rock and roll to bind it in the soul. You sacred mountains, you beloved surf, you massive towering guardians of time. This story is born of you.

Also, we hear there will be tacos. by @brightspiderpress
