A couple of months back I wrote an article with the team from @likethewindmag . It was a real explore into the world of why I run with and without the barrow, myself and the way I view the immediate world around me and it was written just before I took on the @everesting challenge.
I've sort of kept it low key as I have felt a little bit of imposter syndrome as this is a real out in print moment, I'm proud of it but also fearful of being judged by its presence.
I've sat and re-read it during my lunch break today and it's made me realise that it's something I should be proud of!

A chance meeting can change your life and for that @catriona_francesmarshall I will always be thankful.

Imagine running a distance greater than four marathons back to back. Now imagine each of those 113 miles are either steeply uphill or downhill. Now add in that on the uphill miles you are pushing a wheelbarrow and on the downhill sections you are having to hold the barrow back to stop it running away putting extra strain on the quads. And you do this for 40 hours without sleep. Well that was my weekend

It took longer than expected as my quads gave out which is from the barrow dragging me downhill, the support was amazing and great to have so many friends come along, staying awake was really hard at about hour 28 but kept it going by just having a huge amount sugar, caffeine and getting some tunes going.
It was an amazing experience, brutally tough and probably was a stupid idea but it's done and now it's time to recover and have some time with the family.

This has been 11 months in the training, racing, building and development and without the support of so many people this would not have been possible.

I've raised over £5000 to support mental health in the construction industry in which 2 people every working day take their own lives.

WHY RUN ON FAMILY HOLIDAY? 🌍🏃‍♂️
Because the best way to explore somewhere new…
is sometimes to run through it.
Forget the tourist map.
Take a wrong turn.
Find the hidden streets.
See the sunrise.
Discover places you’d never find from a bus. 🌅
Your holiday run can become an adventure of its own.

So… where’s your favourite holiday destination to run?

From the social run to a social pint (or two) 🍻🏃‍♂️
The @twistedrunning lumberjack shirt is absolutely banging — perfect for a run and just as good for the post-run shenanigans! 🪵🔥

Sometimes you just need to take the pressure off.
After a disappointing BYU, with a stomach bug that didn’t really settle until Tuesday, I just needed a steady amble. No plan, no target pace, no obsession with distance.
Just run when I felt like running, walk when I fancied it, stop for a coffee along the way and eventually finish with a beer. 🍺☕
I wasn’t bothered about getting under 26.2 miles, or even how much of it I walked. It was just nice to get out, explore a bit and enjoy moving again without having to prove anything.
Sometimes the best adventures are the simplest ones.
And shopping for top from @twistedrunning at the end in Altrincham was a pretty good bonus too! 👌

Two weeks to go until Scouts Honour Backyard Ultra and I can't wait to get stuck in. As a Cub Leader, this was one I simply had to enter!

After last weekend's race was cancelled because of the heat, I've got a real itch to race again.

The best part of the weekend was a “Mooch with Monty” — a great family walk in the sunshine, taking in all the wildlife coming back to life at this time of year.

Yesterday I took on the Shropshire Way 80km. The plan? Keep it relaxed, enjoy the miles, and get a solid 12–14 hours on my feet.

The start was perfect—fields, woodland, good chat with other runners… then just over 2km in, everything changed. I stepped on a rusty nail in the middle of the track. Straight through my shoe and into my foot—felt like it might’ve hit bone.
Decision time: pull out or push on to the next checkpoint. I chose to keep moving.

I covered the nail (no one else needed that surprise) and carried on… and wow, it hurt. Thought the first checkpoint was at 8km—turns out it was 15km (lesson learned: read the notes properly ).

At the checkpoint I cleaned it up with alcohol wipes (you can imagine how that felt), patched it with Compeed and electrical tape, took some painkillers… and got moving again.

What followed turned into one of those experiences you don’t forget. Problem solving on the go, managing pain, adapting to the situation. The kind of stuff that makes ultras more than just running.

I spent the last 50km running with Cameron—supporting each other all the way in. He smashed a huge course PB, and we crossed the line together in 12:05.

Not the day I expected… but definitely one I’ll always remember.

We nailed it. taken in Shropshire Way 80K Festival by @brindleyrunner
