Five years ago, I sat in an interview for an on-air role at the top classical music radio station in the country. I said something I probably shouldn’t have said: “I know this is a classical station…but I don’t actually know anything about classical music.”

The interviewer, who would become my boss, Kelsey McConnell @laklc didn’t flinch. She said, “That’s okay. We’re not looking for a music expert. We need someone who understands our listeners. People living real life and turning to music for solace. The music stuff you can learn.”

Her belief in me changed my life. Since then, I’ve grown a lot, accomplished a lot, and learned a TON. Especially from my incredibly talented colleagues.

Today, I’m excited to share a new chapter! In addition to my work with KUSC and KDFC, I’m adding New York’s WQXR to my on-air home.

My first New York show airs this Sunday, November 16, from 5-9pm EST on 105.9 FM and at WQXR.org. It is surreal to be on the station I grew up listening to.

Together, KUSC, KDFC, and WQXR make up the United States’ leading classical stations, and I’m humbled to share music with hundreds of thousands of listeners from coast to coast.

Five years later, I only know a little more about classical music. But I know a lot more about what music means in our lives, its transformative power, the ways it connects us as human beings, and the importance of people who support you. See you on Sunday, New York. by @brisasiegel

This annual reel has become something I look forward to making sooo much. Thank you God for all of the blessings that filled my 2023. Praying for you and me to have a 2024 filled with health, love, ease, protection, and abundance - that any of your challenges or hardships find resolve. And that I find it in me to post on social media more than once a year. 💕 by @brisasiegel

Like the article says, everything good in my life is because of my family and the incredible support system I’ve surrounded myself with. Cheers to good people, culture, and music!🥂🎶

Some moments of focus aaaand silliness from our Nuestra Música recording sessions.

❤️ Nuestra Música (“Our Music”) is a free on-demand stream of classical music with a LatinX influence, now available today. It’s produced by @classicalcalifornia , and hosted in Spanish and in English by me. I take you through stories, images, context and feelings to consider as you listen to this amazing music. Check it out on the KUSC or KDFC app now🎶.

In light of this Nuestra Música release, you can also find a post on our @classicalcalifornia websites to see how you can help Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

Lastlyyyy, tune in to KUSC 91.5 FM TONIGHT at 8pm-12am PST. I’ll be hosting an exclusive Nuestra Música sneak peak 😁🎙 by @brisasiegel
