This week we laid my Grandmother, the matriarch of our family, to rest. To say I am sad about her departure would be an insult to the depth of sorrow that creeps in. It shows up in casual moments like cleaning the house, cooking a meal, or walking the boys around our neighborhood. So many wonderful memories come back as I reflect on our time together. There are also questions I wish I had asked her, guilt for not knowing all there was to know about her or doing more for her, especially in her final years. But isn’t that just how loss works? It always feel like more could have been done. She, however, had done so much for so many.
I did not come on here to wallow in sadness, I came to share my own view of my grandmother, Billie Faye. She was a lady by all definitions. Anyone who has crossed her path knows exactly what I mean. She was fierce, with a backbone that carried her through divorce as a young mom of 3 children, the loss of one of those precious children in later years, and a multitude of other trials in life - yet her graciousness and social etiquette remained in all the years I got to be with her.

If I ever complain, send me back here 🥹
What a wild ride it is to feel like you never have enough time with your kids, your partner your friends but then never have enough time for yourself. I am practicing letting go of the anxiety of creating the “perfect balance” and focusing on the things I find matter most:
~ Being present in the moment
~ Keeping promises made
~ Laughing
~ Remembering how curiosity leads us into some beautiful discoveries
