You’re invited to the 23rd IRiS Alloy, titled “Multisensoriality, Longing, and Art” on Thursday, February 19 from 6-8 pm in the Great Hall at the Cincinnati Art Museum. IRiS Alloys are adventurous, participatory discussions where people from diverse viewpoints meet to wander together in conversation on a topic related to sensing or perception. As always, IRiS Alloys are free and open to the public. Join us and contribute your thoughts and ideas as we talk about how art engages with the senses, and how this is related to emotional impact, memory, and longing.

Joining us will be Britni Bicknaver

Britni Bicknaver is an artist, storyteller, and educator who specializes in immersive audio experiences. Her work ranges from museum audio tours to sound installations that transform environments, photographs, and found objects. by @britnibick

Having an absolute blast in sunny (?!?!) Aberdeen, Scotland as an artist in residence at Peacock and Worm, a printmaking studio and gallery. I’m nerding out hard with 12th century churches, Pictish stones, and Risograph printers. Hey Mom, I finally actually learned Photoshop! Many thanks to the Great Meadows Foundation for this opportunity! taken in Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom by @britnibick

Over two years, I visited the John A. and Judy Ruthven Get Into Nature Gallery at the Cincinnati Museum Center in the stillness and quiet of Wednesdays when the museum is closed to the public. I moved slowly from exhibit to exhibit, contemplating and writing about nature's pure magic and mystical systems, sitting cross-legged on the museum's carpeted floor. It was a dream for me.

The culmination of these sessions is Nature's Clock, a meditative and narrative sound experience that transports listeners further into the subject of the Get Into Nature Gallery—the edge of Appalachia—through the lens of our yearly seasonal cycle.

Nature's Clock opens to the public tomorrow. I'll be there from 10-1, proudly introducing my work to browsing families and museum enthusiasts like myself.

Though Nature's Clock is designed to be experienced in the museum, it can also transport you to the Appalachian forest for 12 minutes anytime. Just click the link in Bio.

Thank you to the amazing museum staff, especially Arynn McCandless and Stacey Kutish!

Last week to see “Tremor” and last day for me to be your gallery attendant! Stop by The Well 2868 Colerain today from 1-4 or through May 26 to see my latest work “Stuttering Composition” in this group show close to my heart.

“Tremor” is the latest installment of The Response Project, a Music and Arts festival helmed by Cincinnati’s favorite pianist Brianna Matzke:

TREMOR began in 2020, when pianist Brianna Matzke was diagnosed with a neurological condition called “essential tremor,” which caused her hands to shake. In the ensuing months following her diagnosis, she came to realize that the tremor was not hindering her artistry, but was in actuality at the heart of her authenticity as a musician.

Matzke has asked a collection of artists and composers to create new work in response to her shaking hands and related experiences. Each new work represents not only the artist’s response to Brianna’s tremor, but also their own lived and embodied experiences. Each artist’s body and its inherent abilities have become the generating source of the creative material. The works explore individual artists’ perceptions and responses to disability. Personal expression in the face of misunderstanding, and creating a more inclusive society.
