It is with a heavy heart but much gratitude that after 12 years in Richmond’s Union Hill neighborhood, Metzger will be closing its doors on December 19th. I’m sure it’s no surprise to other small business owners, but this year has been the nail in the coffin for us after years of changes and hardships post Covid.

I opened Metzger with partners in June of 2014. She was my first business, first love, first really hard thing I ever did. I received my first James Beard nomination here and worked among SO MANY talented cooks and servers and bartenders in these walls it’s truly astounding. (Go to pretty much any restaurant in Richmond and you are bound to find a Metzger alumni somewhere in the kitchen or on the floor.) I learned so very much working and cooking here- not only from the mishaps and daily struggles of a restaurant, but from the amazing people I got to work with and serve in this space. I am stronger and a better person now because of it.

Please join us in these last few months at Metzger and help us end our run on a high note. The team right now is stellar and they would love to cook for you before we say goodnight ❤️

Couldn’t be more proud to be a small part of @southernsmokefoundation raising $2 million dollars for the hospitality industry this weekend! Thank you to everyone at SSF but a big big thanks to @cshepherd13 and @htownlindseybrown for their relentless dedication to our people- I’m constantly amazed at the generosity and kindness they foster at this event and throughout their foundation. Houston- I’m obsessed with you but you knew that, don’t let it go to your head 😘😘😘
