17 years. 17 birthdays, 17 Christmases, Grandma’s 80th birthday, mine, Lily and Madeline’s graduation. My wedding. There’s so many moments of life your physical body couldn’t be here for, but there’s never a doubt that you weren’t here with us for each of these moments. You live so deeply in our hearts there is never a moment you’re not missed. There will always be a space only you could fill. We miss your voice, your laugh, your hugs, and the way you made us feel so loved. Time has taught us how to live with the loss, but it has never made us miss you any less. My best friend, My papa. I love you. by @brittany_terhune

what better way to spend mother’s day than reflecting on the women who have loved me, shaped me, and carried me through every stage of life.

for the last year, my grandma has spent countless hours making my wedding dress completely by hand. so much time, care, and love went into every single detail. there were so many late nights and sneaking around all my loved ones to pull off this surprise.

what makes it even more special is knowing i got to walk down the aisle in something made by the same woman who helped raise me. my grandma has been one of the biggest constants in my life, and being able to wear something created by her on such an important day is something i’ll never fully be able to put into words.

she also made my mom’s dress for the wedding, which made the day feel even more meaningful to me. seeing both of us wearing something made by her felt like such a beautiful reflection of the love and care she’s poured into our family for so many years.

and to my mom, thank you for everything you’ve done to make me the person i am today. for every sacrifice, every lesson, every hard season you carried me through, and every way you’ve loved me so selflessly. i truly would not be here without you.

i will never stop being grateful for the women who raised me.
