✨ Burning Man, Tomorrow Today ✨

So grateful for my time in the dust with old and new friends who lifted and lit me up. Big love to my sweetie Brent @futureeyes and to Gregg Fleishman @greggfleishman for orchestrating such a beautiful experience for us all. I loved being part of our incredible build crew and the magical Bloom camp 🌸

I was so moved by how many people gathered in Black Rock City from all corners of the world — our camp alone must have had folks from 15+ countries! 🌍

Burning Man is a paradox: it can feel overindulgent and wasteful, yet it also overflows with creativity, radical generosity, and beloved community. Out there in the elements, we cared for one another through the wild weather until the gods gifted us with perfect days & nights to play and celebrate life together.

What touched me most was finding and reconnecting with so many stellar humans whom I love. I’m in awe of the friends who made the journey, and even the ones I didn’t get to see, I could feel our hearts connected across the playa 💖

In my integration, I’m asking myself: how will I embody the tomorrow I dream of, today? I want to live more in rhythm with the Earth, to keep learning from plants, to deepen my relationship with nature, and to be much more mindful of what I consume.

I want to nurture and build community, make music and art together, and to keep dancing with you all 🥰

In this heartbreaking time on Earth I was fortified in my knowing that we are unstoppable in our togetherness-in shared love, community, joy & creativity. 💕🙏✨🌈

Joanna Macy passed away yesterday afternoon, returning back to the Great Mystery. I send her spirit prayers of deep love and gratitude for the immeasurable gifts she gave to my life and to our world.

I’ll never forget the impact of opening The Work That Reconnects in the summer of 2017, and reading Joanna’s words for the first time. I immediately settled and felt strengthened by her words, imbued with clarity, fierce compassion, and an unwavering commitment to life. From that moment forward, her teachings became a guiding light in my life.

I re-read my favorite book of hers, World as Lover, World as Self last year, and it revived my spirit once again, reminding me who and what I am and why I’m here.

I’m deeply grateful to my friend Lydia Violet, who is carrying Joanna’s legacy forward with The School for the Great Turning, and interweaving The Work That Reconnects with her profound musical medicine. It was through Lydia that I was able to participate in a WTR four-day training in 2018 co-led by Joanna and Lydia. The video of Joanna dancing, all of us singing around her, is from that training.

Later that year, Lydia invited me & Benjamin Life to meet Joanna in her home, where we showed her our film in a VR headset (lol that was a first for her!). Joanna was moved by the film and gave us a powerful blessing. She proceeded to give both of us copies of most of her books and we shared tea and toast around her kitchen table, chatting as if we were old friends.

Joanna’s wisdom is needed now more than ever, to help us feel the pain of the world without turning away, and to live and act from compassion rooted in an understanding of our interconnectedness.

Joanna, I love you and will carry you in my heart for the rest of my life. Thank you for teaching us that we belong to this living Earth, and to one another. Thank you for showing us that by honoring our pain for the world, we open ourselves more fully to its beauty and wonder. Thank you for breaking our hearts open. As you journey now to the great beyond, may you feel surrounded by the love you so generously gave to all of us.

My heart has been so heavy, witnessing the unimaginable horror in Gaza, watching so many innocent children losing limbs and being violently killed day after day. The pain of the world feels impossible to bear, yet the waves of grief are calling us to feel deeply, to trust in our feeling bodies, to care for each other, to know our strength and that our hearts can hold it all. We can hold each other in the face of suffering and take actions towards creating peace. My prayer is that the absolute absurdity of violence that is being inflicted will lead us as a humanity into an unstoppable uprising of love, that ultimately will break us open so completely that we awaken to who and what we are as profoundly interconnected. That we may find our way to peace.

I want to love better, bolder, more courageously and creatively. I want to cultivate aliveness and a sustained gratefulness for this precious existence. I don’t want to hold onto any ill will towards anyone, realizing that this only weighs me down. I want to take actions towards creating peace.

This song is a cover of ‘A Prayer Of My Own” by Nick Mulvey. I feel soothed and strengthened by these lyrics and I hope they bring strength and peace to you too.

Just getting back from a wonderful trip to Chicago celebrating my cousin PJ’s wedding to his beautiful wife Julia. They created such a special celebration for us all and I had a blast dancing the night away with my parents, siblings, and my many aunts, uncles and cousins. My sister and I particularly excelled on the dance floor flinging each other around for hours.
❤️👯‍♀️❤️

I know how unique it is and how fortunate I am to have such a big family that loves and supports one another, and I felt it viscerally this trip. My little cousins are all grown up and doing incredible things in the world. Many of my cousins are parents now to multiple adorable children. I’m totally blown away by how conscientious, kind, creative and funny they all are, and it was enriching to get to dive deeply one on one with many of them.

This past year has been tough for a variety of reasons, and while there are exciting things on the horizon, I’m rebuilding my life and it’s confusing. I’m so grateful for the love that I received this past weekend, from many people who have known me since I was little and who genuinely care how I’m doing and who want me to succeed. It was the sustenance I have been needing to re-envision who I want to be and what I want to do with this precious life. It inspired me to share here for the first time in a long time.

I dropped off quite a bit in the last couple years and I want to apologize to anyone who might feel hurt by that, like I just disappeared.

This platform can feel addictive and impersonal, and I struggle with how to use it in a good way. Also I just have not known how to share myself this past year and a half, on here, but also in general.

I want to change that. I want to share more, and reconnect, and co-create. Sending lots of love ❤️ by @brittanycneff

Whatever you are going through…you are not alone. This journey of the human experience is a solo one in a sense…of course…we are each on our own path. But really, we are deeply connected and there is always a hidden treasure underneath our heartache and suffering that will polish our compassion if we let it.

Remember you are pure love. You are light and beautiful existence. There is nothing to achieve to prove your worth. You are loved 🥰

This past Wednesday I celebrated my 31st birthday on the 13th! I had a few sweet friends visit for the night and I got to dance on the beach in Santa Barbara, eat family style vegan mexican food, and finished it out soaking in some hot springs under the moon :) Friends surrounded and held me with such tenderness & care in the water, and as I melted into their holding I thought about my birth, as I was born in the water (to dolphin music). I thought of how strange and beautiful it is to be human, to be able to think about my birth without having any memory of it. I was also flooded with memories from my life, images of powerful experiences I’ve had, of places I’ve lived, and people I’ve loved. I thought about previous versions of myself from these last 31 years of being Brittany. What a wild ride it has been!

I am reflecting on the gift of life and giving thanks for the miracle that it is to be alive at all. It’s easy to forget that life is a miracle when things get challenging, or in facing the suffering and violence in the world. Over the last few months, at times when I have felt joy, I have also felt coupled with it, something akin to guilt. When I dig deeper into this, I realize the complexity of this emotion comes from a place of recognizing how lucky I am, mixed with a feeling of overwhelm in truly facing and being with the suffering in the world, with a desire to help alleviate suffering in the world, and confusion in not knowing quite how.

But from this swirl, I return to a place of appreciation for this fleeting human existence. I give thanks for this ever-changing journey of life, with its many twists and turns, for the joy as well as the sorrow. I continue to learn that the simple act of presence changes the world around me for the better. My intention for this next rotation around the sun is to love the mystery and embrace all that I do not know. I hope to continue to deepen into the realization of how precious it is to be human, and here together.

My birthday wish is for more love, that we may love ourselves and one another into a world that works for 100% of all life. Keep that fire burning my friends. Love is the answer 💗 by @brittanycneff
