Welcoming David Turner to the Broadmoor Galleries!

We’re honored to introduce acclaimed wildlife sculptor David Turner, whose bronze works have shaped the landscape of contemporary wildlife art for more than four decades. From intimate studies of birds and mammals to monumental installations found in zoos, museums, and public spaces across the country, David’s sculptures embody lifelike detail, emotional depth, and a profound respect for the natural world.

Raised on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, David’s lifelong connection to the marshes, woodlands, and waterways of the Chesapeake Bay continues to guide his artistic vision. Working from Turner Sculpture—his family’s thriving artistic campus and full bronze foundry—he oversees every step of the lost‑wax casting process, ensuring each piece reflects the authenticity and craftsmanship the Turner name is known for.

We’re thrilled to represent David’s extraordinary work and share his powerful celebration of wildlife with our collectors.

From one of Gerald Balciar’s most monumental achievements "Canyon Princess" —a striking portrait of the American mountain lion and a defining work in Western wildlife sculpture.

The original Canyon Princess was carved from a single 31-ton block of Colorado Yule marble and installed in 1995 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. Standing approximately 15 feet above its base and weighing more than eight tons, the monumental marble cougar remains one of the museum’s most recognizable sculptures.

For collectors, Balciar also created a limited bronze edition of this celebrated work.

This substantial bronze brings the presence and character of Balciar’s monumental Canyon Princess into a scale designed for the serious private collection. The combination of finely modeled bronze and deep black granite gives the cougar an especially commanding presence.

A rare opportunity to acquire one of Gerald Balciar’s most important subjects—and a piece with a direct connection to one of the great landmarks of contemporary Western sculpture.

On November 14th from 1–4pm, the Traditional Gallery will host a special book signing with photographer Melani Tutt as she debuts her newest publication, "Sanctuary: North Cheyenne Cañon" — a stunning fine art collection honoring one of Colorado Springs’ most beloved natural spaces.

Melani, a graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography with over 30 years of commercial experience, has devoted recent years to supporting nonprofit organizations throughout our community, including Early Connections Learning Centers, Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club, Pikes Peak Community Foundation, and the Tactile Gallery at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Her work has also been featured throughout Garden of the Gods Resort and Wellness Center, a collaboration that led to her first book, The Sacredness of Everything.

Each Limited Edition copy of Sanctuary: North Cheyenne Cañon is designed, printed, and bound entirely in the United States using true ink offset printing with spot varnish on archival fine art paper — a level of craftsmanship that reflects the care and reverence behind this project.

Guests may preorder the book online and request a personalized dedication and signature from Melani by using the comments section at checkout. All inscriptions will be completed ahead of the event, ensuring your custom copy is ready for pickup during the signing.

We look forward to celebrating this meaningful new release with you and welcoming Melani for this special afternoon at the Broadmoor Galleries!

TRANSLATING NATURE!

Join us Thursday, October 29 from 4:00–8:00 PM at Broadmoor Galleries for the opening of Translating Nature, a new exhibition of atmospheric landscape paintings by acclaimed artist Dave Santillanes.

Known for distilling the complexity of the natural world into elegant, essential forms, Santillanes creates paintings where light, distance, and mood converge in quiet harmony.

Through thoughtful simplification of shape and value, his work offers a fresh way of seeing the American West—one that feels both intimate and expansive. Each painting captures a moment of fleeting light, shifting weather, and the profound stillness of the landscape.

The exhibition will remain on view following the opening, with works available for acquisition.

We invite you to join us for an evening celebrating the landscape, the artist, and the art of seeing nature in a new way.
