I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. This season was hard beyond measure for a multitude of reasons and I’m happy I made it through.
But everything in between?
San Francisco free day? Sitting on the field at retreat?Laughing for half of a rehearsal because somebody said Jaycee funny? Ketchup??? FOREHEAD????
Im not ready to be without that yet, and Im not sure that I’ll ever be.
I have been changed, for good.

what am i even supposed to say? (long reflection post!)
i never intended on marching this summer. i in fact auditioned because i knew i was going to get cut. i wanted the audition experience, and to get feedback from the best staff to ever do it.
so needless to say, i was pretty incredibly amazed when i got my contract! and after talking with the amazing @emma_munster_ , i decided to accept it. and over the past 9 months since i made that choice, ive had one question floating around my head. what does it mean to be world class?
i mean, im the least qualified to answer that question. at the time, i had zero world class experience, zero open class experience, zero drum corps experience, and my movement was not anywhere NEAR world class. it was a wonder i was contracted at all!
but now, after the last 85ish days of my life, ive learned a lot of important things to answer that question (even if my movement still needs some work…)
after spring training, i was incredibly confident. i learned the ENTIRE show in the span of 2 days (thank you @rachel.spins for teaching me the entire flag book and being so incredibly patient 💙💙) and my first weekend of performances went near perfectly! but then i had my first bad show. and at that point, i stopped being world class. instead of wondering what it takes to be world class, i started demanding myself to know and figure out what i was doing wrong that made me not world class.
the biggest lesson i learned is that being world class isn’t about talent, or skills. its about believing that you are world class, as cliche as that sounds. obviously you need the skills, but you will never truly reach that upper eshilon of performers if you don’t believe that you are already part of it. you work hard, you love your teammates harder, and you love yourself and your abilities the hardest. that is what it takes to be, a world class level athlete. not just spinner,
athlete.
thank every single person who got me here, this was the best way to spend my 10th season of colorguard. i wear our silver medal with pride, and my shoelace with even more. i’ll be back for more next year…

day i’ve lost track/81
cali tour is done! i loved this more than i thought i would, the whether was (mostly) beautiful and the views were so pleasent, and i got to perform at the rose bowl with the best group of people ive ever met. im so thankful i stayed and decided to stick it out, everything is so special here. this is my favorite colorguard ever and im happy to be apart of it in any way possible. let’s keep pushing. that moment we all shared at the rose bowl was too special to not continue pushing.

46?/81 i hopped off the plane at LAX, with a dream and my flag in hand
cali doesn’t feel real it feels ai generated tbh
scored an 82.2
i got to perform 🤩
i like cali near the beach where it’s beautiful whether the rest is very hot
also i touched sand you don’t get how monumental that is (i wore socks and crocs and touched the water for two seconds)
very scenic or something
also blooque made a sand castle that failed and it was funny
hooray
oh and $100 at walmart was stupid
it’s a party in the cia or something idk instagram doesn’t have the original party in the usa and i like weird al by @brodizzlecg

the end of spring training, 6 weeks in.
if last year was about learning how to be a world class performer, this one is about how to be a bluecoat.
you don’t get contracted here for your abilities. you get contracted here for you. not your hands, and not your movement (thank goodness i promise i’ll be a good mover eventually).
your attitude, your work ethic, how deeply you care.
being a bluecoat isn’t about the show on the field, it’s the people you impact off of it.
i’m so happy i stayed. it wasn’t easy, it wasn’t always fun, but it’s always home.
this season may break me, shape me in ways i had no idea i could be shaped, burn me (yay cali)
but it will not break who i am at my core.
because if there’s something brody does best, it’s learn everything they can, and it’s fight even when they can’t anymore.
and if there’s something brody refuses to do, it’s give up on the dream they had at 10 years old that got to become a reality.
because for some other 10 year old kid out there, i’m the person they’ll see that makes them look at their dad and say,
“i wanna be just like them. i want to be there.”
and that, is more special than any show could ever be.
that’s why i do what i do.

week 4, 27/81 days completed, 1/3 of the way into DCI 2026
man i need to take more pictures. the ballad is gorgeous and i can’t wait for everyone to experience it.
went to my first ever pride parade where i marched as a flagline vet it was epic i was sparkly
got me some chick-fil-a bc i earned it
we feelin good baby
only 67% (funny number) of the season left, let’s make it count.
haven’t posted the props yet so WE’RE DOING BETTER THAN LAST YEAR YAY

halfway through spring training, 1/4 done with the season.
so it’s been a second, and that’s because things got hard. things sucked for a bit, and required a shifting of mindset, to look at drum corps itself with a new perspective.
but we bounce back, we fight as hard as we can.
because i am a bluecoat.
always and forever.

day 1/80
i barely took pictures today, but it was a good day one! we danced, did flag block, did rifle block.
i did in fact forget how to toss a rifle and started trying to throw quads instead of triples because my bluecoats gun is made of paper
made a perfect ice cream cone

welcome to brody’s dci log where i share pictures and little fun tidbits and HOPEFULLY don’t accidentally leak props
i’ve arrived in the great ohio, im ready for this season.
feeling good and ready to start the season off strong (forgot my tour jacket, got stopped in security and padded down because my “pants were too long”, bag got flagged for apparently no reason? almost lost my earbuds on the bus, almost lost my room key day zero just in a couch cushion)
