a week of feeling helpless watching unimaginable horror in Gaza from the safety of my couch with acute sinusitis. steroids, antibiotics, and losing my seat whenever i got up.

keep protesting, keep writing to your elected representatives, donate if and when you can, do not let disheartenment turn into silence 🍉

also do not get on a plane when you’ve got a headcold/mild sinusitis. now that i’m mostly better, it feels like someone has pushed a hotdog through my ears and behind my eyes. by @brokenchanter

Every few months we take over the Rio Community Centre for a proper DIY night. Great bands, a super-friendly crowd, BYOB and a good excuse to get everyone together.

This time we’re bringing @brokenchanter back to where it all started. Broken Chanter played our very first Big Rock headline, so we’re genuinely buzzing to have them back with full band, this time with special guests @mjohnhenry_music and @funkygunners on decks.

SATURDAY 28 NOVEMBER
RIO COMMUNITY CENTRE, NEWPORT-ON-TAY
BYOB

If you’ve been before, you know.
If you haven’t, come along and join us. Ticket link in our bio taken in Newport-on-Tay, Fife by @brokenchanter

Today, @the_smia launched their Scottish Music EDIA Manifesto + Action Framework, of which I am a founding signatory.

Barriers still exist relating to class, race and ethnicity, disability, gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, and geography that continue to shape who can participate fully in Scottish music. This work is a collective commitment to addressing them, of which I am proud to be a part.

Developed with the SMIA’s EDIA Advisory Group and shaped through consultation with people working across Scotland’s music industry, this work sets out a shared, practical approach to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

The manifesto and framework are designed to support ongoing reflection, learning and action while recognising the wide range of roles, resources and contexts that make up Scotland’s music sector.

Alongside the documents, the project hub provides access to practical resources and supporting materials, with additional content and opportunities to be added over time.

Collectively, we can improve Scotland’s musical landscape. You should get yourself involved. by @brokenchanter

Good for the soul to see so many antifascists turn out in Glasgow today to stare down and drown out a handful of far right losers, outnumbering them literally over 100 to 1. ¡No pasarán! by @brokenchanter

A first BC outing at @paisleyartscentre for a spooktacular hallowe’en funtime, a first full band visit to @bigrocknewport at the gorgeous Rio, and a return to the wonderful @tolboothstirling. Broken Chanter (@brokenchanter) aka David MacGregor is bringing his excellent band and new album This Could be Us, You, Or Anybody Else to the Arts Centre.

Released on Chemikal Underground just two years after Scottish Album of the Year Nominated ‘Chorus Of Doubt’, ‘This Could be Us…’ has attracted critical plaudits (Songs of hope for a world on Fire – UNCUT) and seen chart success, with the band thrilling audiences across the UK and Ireland this year.

Thank you to everyone in Leeds and Manchester who gave me such a warm welcome in already sweltering conditions. It was good to sing songs new and old for you, and talk a power of mince too. There was no smoke machine in venue btw, that is the steam of a cooking audience. Thank you @carla.j.easton for having me along, my sister in still-here-through-sheer-stubbornness and to-do list accountability sponsor. It was all a lot of fun. Pics pinched from @anewiss (three), and from @agarr45 (one), and one of Carla et al by me. I’m off for a wee hoaliday now, but new sh0ws announced very soon indeed. by @brokenchanter
