#gratitude @magamnsw MATERIALS WITH A SECOND LIFE ♻️✨ #northerbeachesenvironmentalart&designprize

What possibilities can be found in the materials we discard?

Matthew Curtis’ ‘Revitrification Pair’ transforms waste television screens and architectural glass into new building components. Suzon Fuks’ ‘Helix Nebula’ reimagines obsolete SIM cards as sculptural wearables, while Sacha Jacobsen’s ‘After Grove’ creates a moving canopy from plastic lids diverted from landfill.

Discover how design can transform waste in the Environmental Art & Design Prize at MAG&M, from 7 August to 20 September 2026.

NOW SHOWING #IsobelRayson

@isobelrayson is a multidisciplinary artist based in Carwoola, NSW, working primarily with wall-based relief wood carvings.

Using slow, repetitive processes, her practice centres on the physical experience of making to explore ideas of fragility and impermanence, along with the human instinct for order and protection. The resulting works encourage slow looking, offering moments of quiet focus and reflection.
(I don’t think I’ve told her this yet, but seeing Isobel’s graduating work at ANU in 2014 was what excited me to go to art school. Warning: it will for you too!)

NOW SHOWING #EstelleBriedis

@estellebriedis is a textile designer and screen printer based between her studio in Queanbeyan NSW and Megalo Print Studio and Gallery in Kingston, ACT.

Her practice focuses on creating repeat patterns for functional design objects and artworks by combining hand-drawn motifs with digital design and traditional screen printing. From these processes, she uses repetition, scale, and surface to transform both the material and space.

(You may have even been one of the lucky few to have taken home a several recipe cards in Estelle's recent screenprinting workshop with us!)

These five artists live and work in our neighbourhoods as people we may recognise as a familiar dog-walker, a regular at the corner café, or simply a “good neighbour”. Through functional objects and considered craftsmanship, the exhibition presents works that feel personal and lived-with, as though gathered over time from friends and neighbours.
