It’s true! Breast cancer is on the rise in young women. Even though we’re considered too young for mammograms, it’s imperative that we not only check our breasts for signs of breast cancer but also know our bodies, listen to them, and see a doctor if something feels off. Early detection can save your life.

@brooklyn_style was diagnosed at 28 years old, and I was diagnosed at 30. It happens.

So if you’re reading this, we invite you to feel on your breast. Do it right now.

Happy September 1st/Feel it on the First.

Share this video to educate the girlies! 💝

Every year I get emotional around this week for many reasons…😮‍💨

3 years ago this week, I went in for my last chemo infusion. It’s so weird, I can still remember the smell of the infusion suite, what I ate for breakfast that day, the nurses chanting their “ring the bell” poem, and the tears in my moms eyes when I walked back into my apartment that day.

I was diagnosed 4 days before COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. This day was a huge day for me and I wanted to celebrate but I also wanted to be safe. A few close friends and family came over, we socially distanced the entire time, and everyone self quarantined leading up and took COVID tests just so we could sit around my apartment and thank God for my journey. I didn’t take any of it lightly knowing my journey did not have to go the way it did. So many of my sisters in the community were and still are in treatment. This also makes 3 years of advocacy work both on and off of social media which I told myself I’d continue to do until a cure is found 💕

P.S. Do your self breast exam if you haven’t yet this month!

Hi new faces! ☀️ For those new to my page, this is my story.

I always said to simply live means nothing unless you’re living in purpose. Crappy things happen in life, but for me choosing to live means waking up every day and using whatever time I have left on this Earth to make a difference in something that matters. Being a breast cancer advocate is easily one of the top things I’m most proud about myself for 🥹 so thanks to you all for following my story and being a part of my community 💕

The work continues 👊🏾
And also don’t be surprised if while I’m delivering baby girl, I’m making calls to our local government about breast cancer patient rights 😂

We don’t talk enough about what happens after initial early breast cancer treatment.

Surgery, chemo or radiation may be behind you, but for many breast cancer survivors it’s the start of a quieter, longer-term treatment phase filled with questions, uncertainty, and recurrence anxiety.

When it comes to breast cancer survivorship, it’s About D@mn Time we said the quiet part out loud.

Starting this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing real stories and starting honest conversations about the realities of breast cancer survivorship, so women feel more informed, supported and prepared for what comes next.

Some friendships are born in the most unexpected places. 🥹🎀 Shoutout to IG lol, because tonight I got to hug a breast friend I’d never met in person but had chatted with so much online. We met over mocktails the night before her new treatment. 🤍

And because it was already WAY past my bedtime 😂, I needed a quick glow-up before heading out. The @ogee Sculpted Face Sticks made it easy to add a little color, warmth, and glow without doing the most.

I’ll never be grateful for cancer, but I’ll forever be grateful for some of the people it brought into my life. Cheers to taking internet friendships offline! 🥂✨

Rushed home to open my copy! 🥹 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it 1000x over. Some people don’t just say they care about this community, they become part of it and that is the essence of @drteplinsky 💗

Dr. Teplinsky has been such an important voice in the young adult breast cancer community, and I’m so grateful for the way she continues to show up for patients not just as an oncologist, but as an educator, advocate, and someone who makes it a point to always listen to us.

This book walks alongside you from prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and everything else in between…the parts people prepare you for and the parts they don’t. And what I love most is that it doesn’t just share medical information; it makes space for the voices of patients, with real diverse community stories woven throughout and it feels like a natural conversation with a trusted (highly educated! Lol) friend holding my hand throughout my journey.

There’s something powerful about seeing the experiences of our community honored on the page alongside the expertise of a physician who has dedicated so much of her work to making sure we feel informed, heard, and less alone.

Dr. Teplinsky, thank you for what you mean to this community and to so many of us individually. Thank you for using your platform to make complicated information understandable, for advocating for young people with breast cancer, and for reminding us that our experiences matter beyond the walls of an oncology clinic.

So proud to have this one on my shelf. 💕📚 I can’t describe how much I (and this community!) completely adore you.

When the second opinion says the EXACT same thing as the first doctor. 😭😂

Me: “I just wanted to make sure.”
Second doctor: “Yep. Still cancer. Still the same plan.” 🫠

But seriously getting a second opinion is completely okay. You are not being difficult, disrespectful, or “doing too much.” This is your body, your diagnosis, and a treatment plan that can affect the rest of your life.

People seek second opinions for all kinds of reasons: to confirm the diagnosis or stage, review pathology, hear another treatment approach, explore clinical trials, ask about fertility or reconstruction options, or simply feel more confident before making a major decision.

A few tips if you want one:
✨Tell your current team you’d like a second opinion; you don’t need to sneak around.
✨Ask for copies of your pathology report, imaging, treatment records, and relevant test results.
✨ Check your insurance coverage and referral requirements first.
✨ Write down your questions and ask the second doctor what, if anything, they would do differently and why.

And sometimes the second opinion is simply: “I agree with everything they told you.” Which may feel a little anticlimactic after all that work 😂…but sometimes that confirmation is exactly the peace of mind you needed.

Reason #63874 Why I Hate INSURANCE 🫩🤬

My insurance covers a breast pump after my double mastectomy… but not the formula I’ll actually need to feed my baby. So yes, I got the “free” pump, am selling it on Facebook Marketplace, and will put that money toward formula. 😭🍼

It’s funny because it’s ridiculous, but it highlights a very real gap. Insurance can cover breast pumps and lactation support, while families who medically cannot breastfeed are left paying for formula entirely out of pocket.

That’s why I’m supporting Connie’s Bill, or the Constance C. McDaniel Medically Necessary Infant Formula and Donor Milk Act, co-created with @bobbie and @the_breasties. This bill would establish a 3-year pilot to provide financial assistance for formula and donor milk when breastfeeding isn’t medically possible.

Breast cancer already took away my ability to breastfeed. Families like mine shouldn’t be financially penalized for how we have to feed our babies.

🩷 Add your name and support Connie’s Bill by sending a pre-written letter to your rep in just a few minutes using the link in my bio! 🔗

There was a time when my biggest goal was simply to make it through cancer treatment 🥺

This month, I was standing in Japan, somewhere I had dreamed of visiting for years. Plus, I got to go with Alfred, who had been beside me through my entire breast cancer journey; it felt almost impossible to put into words.

This was my Victory Trip. 🇯🇵❤️

17 Strong provides Victory Trips to young adults who have battled life-threatening illnesses, giving survivors an opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream, celebrate what they’ve overcome, and begin a new chapter.

And that last part means so much to me 🩷

Survivorship is not just about being alive. It’s getting the opportunity to actually LIVE the life you fought so hard to keep.

Japan had always been one of my “one day” dreams. The culture, the food, the temples. And in the sweetest plot twist, by the time our trip arrived, it had also become our babymoon. 🥹

I’m incredibly grateful to @17strong for giving young adult survivors permission to celebrate their victory in such a tangible way and for giving me a memory I will carry forever.

✨ If you’re a young adult survivor, applications for the next season of 17 Strong Victory Trips open October 1! Please look into the eligibility requirements and apply or send this to a survivor who needs to know this opportunity exists.
