Y’all, I really do see you.

Today I drank two protein shakes back-to-back
just to get some fuel in between events,
Teach class, do the event,
hurry to a video shoot
school pickup,
creating content,
messaging a company about pinkwashing,
checking in on two friends in hospice,
getting my daughter ready for her first fall dance,
picking up my packet for tomorrow’s HYROX competition, preparing for a speech,
wondering what the heck we’re having for dinner,
and grieving another friend who passed away.

And somewhere in the middle of all that,
trying to process my own feelings.

It’s a weird job we have, isn’t it? 🫠

We spend our days fighting for people,
loving people,
losing people,
and somehow finding the strength
to keep showing up.

And even on the days when it feels impossibly heavy,
we know this is where we’re supposed to be.

But I hope we never forget that we’re still human.
Still patients ourselves.
Still carrying things that don’t disappear
just because we’ve learned how to advocate through them.

We don’t always have to be the strong ones.
We don’t always have to turn our grief
into something productive.

Sometimes we need someone to show up for us, too.

So to my fellow patient advocates,
especially during this incredibly loud month of October…

I see you.
I appreciate you.
And I hope you’re finding little moments
to take care of yourself
in the middle of taking care of the world. 🫶🏾

Today is Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day (BRA DAY). A day to bring awareness to the realities of breast reconstruction.

What breast reconstruction is not is a free boob job.

What it is is an amputation.

It’s losing a body part that you were born with.

It is pain, heartache, and grief for many of us and honestly, it’s lonely at times.

Nothing about reconstruction is free and nothing about it is easy.

To everyone that has walked the path of losing your breast and navigating reconstruction. We see you. We understand. & we wish you peace and love.💕

Happy 1st Breast Cancer Awareness Month to ME!💞

Last weekend was truly one for the books. I had the honor of attending the National Black Breast Cancer Summit hosted by Sisters Network Inc. and not only was this my first partnership as a breast cancer advocate/survivor, but it was also my FIRST time speaking on a panel!

When I first started this journey, I honestly didn’t want to talk to other women walking a similar path. I thought I wanted to handle everything on my own. But last weekend completely changed my perspective. The love, sisterhood, and warmth I felt from these women reminded me just how powerful it is to be surrounded by people who get it.

And being the baby of the SIS Squad , I was definitely nervous, but my SIS Squad sisters were so encouraging, uplifting, and welcoming. They made me feel like I belonged from the moment I arrived.

A huge THANK YOU to Sisters Network Inc. for seeing something in me, believing in me, and giving me the opportunity to use my voice. This experience meant more to me than I can put into words, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead.

Thank you to my mama for being my travel buddy, and to my dad, sister, family, and friends for always supporting and cheering me on. I truly wouldn’t be me without my village.

Jeremiah 29:11 has been one of the scriptures I’ve held onto throughout this journey, and last weekend was another reminder that God’s plans for me are bigger than anything I could’ve imagined. I’m trusting His plan and walking boldly into whatever comes next.

Here’s to many more rooms, conversations, panels, partnerships, and opportunities to use my story to make an impact. 💗✨

We don’t talk enough about what happens after initial early breast cancer treatment.

Surgery, chemo or radiation may be behind you, but for many breast cancer survivors it’s the start of a quieter, longer-term treatment phase filled with questions, uncertainty, and recurrence anxiety.

Most 28-year-olds are figuring out careers and apartments. Our guest today, Brooklyn Olumba, was figuring out how to survive breast cancer and how to advocate for herself in a system that doesn't slow down for anyone.

There was no manual. She had to learn as she went: which questions to ask, when to push back, how to make sure her voice was heard in rooms where it's easy to feel invisible.

Then she took what she learned and built a global support network for people facing breast cancer.
