.
my sweet potato
had a tiny burnt piece
on its skin

tasted like a marshmallow
plot twist spin

held over a fire
all summery toasty

in an autumn dinners
orange glow mostly

carbs to add to
my chickpea soup

protein
legumes
callin me
vegetable stew

cause i can't get over
how it tasted so close

to a campfire of smores
early halloween stories
told by a marshmallow ghost

.
its
the
big
little
moments

hop on in
said my new
airport lounge friend

the
beautiful woman
with green eyes
that perfect smile

so warm
so welcoming

we drink
we laugh
we flow

we vibe

talk about her children
her loving husband

our work
our successes

my passion for poetry
music concerts

her admiration for
a good meal out
a chill time

as we get closer to
our respective flights
as her eyes turned greener

i shared a poem
or two

she said they were
beautiful

said
i have a sweet soul

hop on in
you'll always remember me
she said as we departed

its
the
little
moments
that we remember

that
land
so big
in our hearts

we are going to have to find
a different way

to journey

so the forest
can guide
the lost

to
educate themselves
on how to
be gentle

with

our beloved
woodlands

life giving
force

i forgot
how people rush
in an airport

until
i slow
enough

to those
standing in place

like the woman
where brown was
having its moment
well put together is
an understatement
how browns tans blend

really when
your freckles match your sweater
you don't even need to try

or the beautiful human
where for her
kindness
is fun

flying her goddaughters
to hawaii
for their
25th
trip

around our sun

or
the server
all smiles with
maybe the worlds
most perfect teeth
gloss gloss sparkle shine
with a personality that
leaves the sunshine
behind

beautiful butterfly
shining bright
leave your
cares
out
of

sight

you're a miracle
its no disguise
when my
dimples
reflect
in

your
eyes

so many people
so many souls
so many stories

yet to be told

brush strokes
before the storm

it's the golden hour
the day before
a nor'easter

eerily beautiful
pink orange yellow
golden sky

gorgeously
painting everything
in its own

gauzed glow

brush strokes
before the storm

the reminder
of how
we

return
before
we ever
go

i was sitting eating lunch
this beautiful flower
with a great smile
said

is this seat taken
can I sit with you

i said

of course
any flower with such
a wonderful smile
is always welcome

which made her smile
even more

all of those teeth
so white
matching her petals

so pleasant

we chitchatted
a bit

well
im brooklyn i write poetry

omg my name is Brooke

oh wow
i get called brooke brookie
brooks brookester

the flower turned to the sun
then turned towards me
brookie i get that a lot too

her petals
turned towards me

her stem
so green
so rigid
so flexible
so perfect

i gave her my poetry page
i had to go

so
spread my wings
started to fly

she breathed oxygen
into my soul

said enjoy your day

isn't so much fun
when the universe

takes random moments
to make us appreciate
one another

to make us whole

i met a flower
with a beautiful smile
today

life hands us all
something beautiful
in its own
unique

special way
