Adoption takes away many things…and one is having someone that looks like you around. For years I resented my parents because people would ask questions and say things like, “are those your parents?” (With a disgusted or confused look), or “where are your REAL parents?” (Which stung because I didn’t know either or the reason why I was given up for adoption), or “Your mom didn’t love you because why would she give you up?” (Because wtf? Kids are mean). BUT nowwwwww, I get to show people, this is my birth mom and sometimes I don’t see the resemblance still because in my mind I’m still so distant in my healing journey, but then I remember like nah…videos like these…I see it. Our personalities are also very similar! And even though I’ve known her since 2005, I’m just NOW seeing the resemblance and it heals a bit of me every morning I’m here. ♥️

That’s the short version bc my signal here isn’t super strong lol but until then,

What a wild life this is…how do you tell someone you never met in real life before…that you already love them? We spent a few hours together and our personalities are so similar. I have waited to be understood in my energy for so long and he’s literally like me. What comes after this entire weekend…we’ll see…But last night we got to just kind of study each other and learn each others mannerisms and went to go party lol and he’s really like my energy twin! And he’s 2 yrs older than me. Let’s see what today brings but I have faith. If nothing else…I have faith. ♥️ I’m so happy y’all. I’m so happy. 😭♥️🤲🏽

Our story:
We were both adopted from Peru but raised with different families. I was adopted to Brooklyn & he was adopted to Canada (I think lol I haven’t actually asked 🤣). I went back to Peru for the first time in 2005 and reconnected with our family then. Found out about him and reached out. We started with email and then moved to MySpace and then Facebook and then IG. But never really had solid plans to meet and didn’t talk much. But…alignment. Im in the PNW for a conference and the timing worked out perfectly. So here we are today ♥️ by @brooklynwarmi

Summer 2026 Part 1

June:
• @mercadoandine & got to see Los Thuthanaka

The key goals of The Hague Convention were to ensure that international adoption was done “ethically” and that each adoption went through the “right processes”.

The Hague Convention made its ruling in The Hague, Netherlands in 1993 and the treaty was signed with Peru in 1994.

In the 90s there were rumors that foreigners would come to Peru (and many other countries within Central & South America), to take babies for parts (lungs, hearts, etc). Though this was not proven, the rumors were enough to grab the attention of the media. And because Peru didn’t have hard regulations surrounding adoption, many children were tr@ff!cked.

Before 1994, private adoptions were the worst to have as the lawyers could literally go out and seek mothers who were pregnant or had young babies, and “match” them with a family looking to adopt.

The Hague Convention on Private International Law, set regulations and restrictions on how children were being adopted and Peru complied…ish.

It’s always hard to tell how many lawyers “complied” because the way things happen back in Peru…bribes are always a thing. Even til today. by @brooklynwarmi
