Indigenous People’s Day is my whole life. From creation to now. In traditional clothes or jeans. I walk in beauty. Today I celebrate with highlights from @indigenousnyfw and all the beautiful people there, and a few pictures from my childhood.

Last two photos are from when my family danced with Dean Wilson who was also a First Twenty- nine Navajo Code Talker along side my Cheii (grandpa).

Last video from a recent audition but felt fitting for this post 😎

First photograph and runway photograph by @denisogrinc with makeup by @nickyt_mua and wearing designs by @enfant_martyr which was an absolute kickass outfit to wear!!

Images with the “Protect” hoodie and leather jacket are designs by @relativeartsnyc and make up by @sheensationall

Meet Our Marketplace ✨🪶

Indigenous creativity, culture, and community all in one space! As we celebrate 7 years of Urban Indigenous Collective rebuilding Indigenous systems of care, we’re bringing together an incredible lineup of Indigenous artists, makers, designers, and community-owned businesses for our Indigenous Peoples’ Day Ain’t Over After-Party Fundraiser.
From handcrafted jewelry and contemporary Indigenous fashion to beadwork, crystals, apparel, and more, our marketplace is an opportunity to invest directly in the artists, entrepreneurs, and communities who keep our cultures thriving.

🛍️ Meet Our Vendors:

We’re proud to create space for these incredible vendors to share their work with our communities. And the marketplace is just one part of the celebration! Join us for a night of Indigenous DJs, live performances, immersive art installations, dancing, connection, and collective joy in a 20,000-square-foot immersive space.

Clarification: despite being quite thoroughly genocided, the Mochica community is still very much alive! Mochik is one of the few native languages to have become functionally extinct with no living native speakers then revived using the combined effort of academic institutions and descendants of native speakers!

This video is partly a correction for a previous reel I made forever ago before I knew anything about the Mochik origin of the word cholo! Thank you to folks who sent me sources!
