So, it’s here… I am a 2022 Charlotte Equity Impact Fellow. And my equity work will center both the East and West corridors of Charlotte, specifically education and early outcomes! I can’t wait to get started, who do you know that I need to know? #JUSTICE #equity #diversity #inclusion #coalitionofeducatorsds #browngurlteaching #realestate #investment #equality #nifty #investing #finance #invest #education #sharemarket #money #sensex #community #investor #financialfreedom #business #bse #mutualfunds #socialjustice #nse #justice #mortgage #wealth #blacklivesmatter #jedi taken in Plaza Midwood by @browngurlteaching

Busy week back in the Central Ave/Albemarle Road Corridor! 💫 This week has been a whirlwind of history, healing, and humility. Listening to communities who feel vulnerable, threatened, and exhausted has been a powerful experience.

I kept asking myself, “What’s missing from my interactions?”

Then, today at the PACE Conference, during the keynote, it hit me: HOPE.

In this time of rapid change, the unease many of us in transformative community work feel is real. We’re in a space of “conjugating freedom” – figuring out how to make it real in our daily lives.

Beyond active listening, we must use HOPE as a call to action, a catalyst for liberation.

This post is dedicated to Manolo of Manolo’s Bakery – a true embodiment of hope as an act of resistance, resilience, and liberation! #CommunityWork #HopeIsAction #CentralAve #AlbemarleRoad” by @browngurlteaching

Some say when you transition away from the physical you are far more powerful as you are not confined to space nor time, I’d like to think that this great soul,Nikki Giovanni, has always had this capacity. I remember crying watching Kimberly Reese turn herself from “Mammy” to “Queen Infinite” back in 1993 watching A Different World while she was reciting my favorite poem of yours “Ego Tripping”. Thank you for giving this southern dark skin black girl a reason to “fly like a bird in the sky”… You are in indeed “the one who would save”. Rest in paradise Queen! So incredibly honored to be nominated for the WFAE Equalibrium Awards Gala last night!

It was a truly special evening celebrating the incredible work being done to create a more equitable community. Sharing this night with my husband, parents, amazing colleagues, and fellow #NinerNation was unforgettable.

This event was a powerful testament to what happens when we all come together to ensure everyone has the chance to succeed. #EqualOpportunity #CommunityImpact #WFAEGala #CLT 💚⛏️ by @browngurlteaching

In the documentary “You Are Not Crazy”, @_harrisonwilliams bravely dives into the critical gaps Black Americans face in their roles as entrepreneurs in Greater Charlotte, provides research on Black business ownership and leaves us all with the opportunities to build more supportive ecosystems.

I had the pleasure of attending this screening event, which was community-oriented, purposeful, and necessary.

From garden to table… today Charlotte urbanCORE and UNCC Charlotte’s SERVE team picked and hand delivered fresh produce to the president of Hidden Valley’s Community Association Marjorie Parker, RHIT who will distribute this to elderly community members for Thanksgiving. This initiative has provided produce for over 40 families in just 3 months! Talk about impact!

Take a moment to go back in time and see our progress!

⚒️💚The Pick, the Sickle and the Shovel… Niner Nation showed up and showed out! They trimmed every hedge, got rid of all the weeds, planted azaleas, over 65 mums, and 25 blueberry bushes, and filled 12 garden beds using wheelbarrows with compost in an assembly line 240 times. Stay tuned for before and after pictures! by @browngurlteaching
