Worrying about who gets the credit for improving the community does not mean you are dedicated to improving the community. You keep pushing frustrated and all but continue working to better the community. It's too much to be done, pick another problem or find another way!

We are dedicated to making sure Charlotte is equitable and just for all.

I don't care who leads the way for more housing as long as it is responsive to the community.

It just needs to be done.

Good morning!

Charlotte Equity Fellows are excited to build a future inclusive Charlotte where decisions about our communities are made by our communities at all levels.

For our project, we conducted hundreds of interviews with community members, stakeholders and grassroots organizers. From these interviews, emerged recommendations for centering community voices that will guide how organizers can use community knowledge to empower Charlotteans.

To begin this work, we have created a survey to capture the community’s insights and experiences to help inform our plans for collective learning and solutions that can serve the larger movement.

Your input is important to us. Let's build power together!

Had the privilege of receiving a grant from @bojangles foundation to purchase culturally relevant books 📚 to support prek classes and to build personal libraries for black and brown kids with characters that look 👀 like them. Love that something so simple has the potential to make a huge impact. Urban graduates, doing the work! #reading #worldreadaloudday #urbangradutes #blackmenread #bojangles

Today was such a great day to be outside and in the community. Thank you to everyone who supported tenants of the Econolodge as we continue to rehouse families and individuals.

Charlotte’s housing shortages require us to think outside the box and develop solutions that work for those directly impacted.

Too many people are forced to live in hotels simply because it’s the easiest form of shelter that allows for independence even at the high cost of rent, which is over $1,500 monthly for a room!!!

I hope that we can turn this and/or other extended stay hotels into cooperative housing to fill an immediate need to house and increase upward mobility.

Today was a step in the right direction and I thank everyone for their support, donation and service!!

So excited about the work of these community partners! Please follow and support them.

Policing is the violent arm of our white supremacist system that disguises itself as normal and natural.

As it currently stands 40.4% of Charlotte’s general funds budget is proposed to go to the police. With only .9% set aside for Economic Development and 2.8% set aside for Housing and Neighborhood Services.

Charlotte was ranked 50 out of 50 amongst cities of our size in upward mobility.
