One of my favourite things about getting stronger has very little to do with the gym. It’s walking 20k steps on vacation and still having energy for karaoke. Saying yes to that hike, the impromptu swim, the random new sport. Having something left in the tank after work. I love that training builds my capacity to LIVE more. More things I can say yes to, less energy spent feeling physically limited. Also, carrying all the groceries in one trip, cuz why not 💅 by @brownpuffgirl
Strength is one part of the equation. Rate of force development is another. Working on expressing strength at speed and developing power beyond the 1RM. Good luck to my nervous system 😩 by @brownpuffgirl
my biggest training goal has never been a number or a competition. i want a body that can do things, withstand things, and keep doing them for a very long time. strong. fast. explosive. mobile. coordinated. skilled. cognitively sharp. emotionally resilient. the whole damn system. 🤡 and i’ve spent years getting pretty good at the discipline part. show up. stick to the plan. do the work. the harder part now is deciding where that discipline goes when there are more things i want to develop than i have time, energy and recovery to give them. because you can build toward a lot of things. you just can’t make everything the priority at once. some things get built. some get maintained. some have to wait. and that’s hard when the things you’re tempted to deprioritise are the things that worked beautifully for you for years. but maybe that’s the game. not just in training, but in life. not everything needs to be optimised. not everything needs to be growing. some things just need to stay good enough while something else gets its turn. and no, i don’t want less. hell no. i have a ridiculous number of things i want to build, become, learn and experience in this life. just not all at once. the goal is to build a body that can keep up with the life i want to live. back to training ig 🫡 (if you read all that, i’m sorry 💀) by @brownpuffgirl
