It takes a lot to make the leap, even more to keep your stamina—as well as your sanity—once you start. Two years. Nearly twenty-four months of schooling on top of work, taking up a promotion, and all the usual swings of life. Not to mention all the while making time for her boops. That’s what she did. Lotta hours spent juggling responsibilities, making sacrifices, and getting up day after day to do it again. But all those assignments are done. No more exams, no more bringing her laptop everywhere to submit papers or discussion posts from the road. That diploma is yours, boopiekins. Now run back and tell younger you that she did it. With guts, grit, and more than a little stress, she did it. Have no fear and shed all doubt.

A day late but I never forgot. Happy Birthday to my Sis from another Miss, my day one, the best friend a kid could ask for. For not being too bright at 15 years old, I knew I wanted to become her friend. Coming up on 20 years later, if I never make another wise decision in my life, that one alone would make me a pretty smart man. Maybe all the most meaningful things go best unsaid. But, if I can run my mouth for a minute, I’d say she’s the best friend you’ll find. Hands down, bar none. I’ll argue with anybody. All my blandest memories with her will stay with me as some of the best. Whether it was Bruges, Tokyo, or Mexico City, I think even the peak times together were only really peaks because I got to spend them with my Nicnic. I’d rather spend the day doing absolutely nothing with her than something fabulous with almost anyone else.

And no one but my mama has put up with more of my shit and helped me sift through more shit than her. I owe my life. So, whatever she wants, at whatever speed, in whatever place or time, I pray to the gods that she gets it. May the coming seasons bring her that and then some.

Another year of life. I wish her so very many more.

A very happy birthday to a guy so many of us are blessed to know. One of my oldest and dearest friends. I suppose that makes me extra blessed—which I along with his lady, friends, and family certainly are. To share stages of life with Jon is not something you take for granted. So many, many memories made and so many more yet to come.
