Comfort zones don’t make memories.
Sometimes you learn a place through its food, one of my top favorite activities when traveling to a new country. Travel keeps reminding me that there’s more than one way to live. Sometimes you have to leave home to realize how big the world really is.

Let it cook!!!! A Quick Overview

Maybe im just hungry while writing,
But that trip was marinated, well seasoned, and lots of flavor.
It sat on me like the day after Thanksgiving; still elated with a full stomach and recharged from the Fam.

Thanks to @passportheavy, @jubril8 and @nathwild for putting that trip together and bringing all these amazing souls out to Croatia and having me capture the moments. And big thanks to Captain D @admiral_aquamarin_split and his family for taking such great care of us and having us aboard. And @korculabuggyofficial for the ride around the island and the hospitality and food.

Video Journal Entry: Gratitude

A collection of memories, Family, Friendships, Reconnecting, Discovery, Expression etc.

A journey that was everything I needed to keep going. Immersed in community, and refueled with love, home, happiness, and togetherness. And was reminded that this is what drives me.

Forever grateful for my encounters, the loved ones and family from Senegal to Malaysia and the beautiful people I crossed paths with.

Joy…

With the beautiful and amazing @shadaenotadu

It’s the smile that sneaks in without warning, the light that shines even in ordinary moments, the feeling that makes everything around us glow.

Joy doesn’t need to be loud or grand,  sometimes it’s just in laughter shared, in peace found, in knowing you are exactly where you’re meant to be.

Thank You Davis Family,

It was an honor, Isaiah Davis Sr. and Deborah J Davis and Family, for the opportunity to document and create the visual story to celebrate the family and the journey to your retirement/ 2nd chapter.

For the past 5 months, to stay still here in America, which was a challenge in itself and something I don’t do so often, to tell the story of my long-time friend’s family. @dentalmanike and @melissadavismd . I really got to experience how amazing their parents are on this adventure for the first time, and it made me focus in a bit deeper on this gift we call life and put me in a space of a bit more clarity.

I think I have seen more of the Southeast than I have seen in years, and to make my way between South Carolina and Georgia, to film and hear from some of their closest friends and colleagues as they talked about their experiences with the beautiful people that the Davis’ are, was insightful and it helped me to feel at home again. I really enjoyed revisiting a few more of my creative hats and returning back to my storytelling origins, enabling me to portray a visual and audible journey that was meaningful and gave guidance and dedication to send us all on this story of the Davis’.

Thank you Davis family, and see yall again for sure much sooner than later :-)

I remember these moments. Got to cross paths with some great individuals through my journey in Namibia and @thedeonangelo is definitely one of them.

Creator and owner of @_helao , we take a journey through Katutura in Windhoek, Namibia and get so much love from the people there, it was truly one for the books.

But one thing I really remember was, even though we were out to explore and learn, and get some shots in, Deon was actually in the back seat of the car crafting his fit to wear in one of the shots. He designs on the spot… brilliant.

So far away from the rice fields. I will see you again.

I really enjoyed working with this crew in Bali before shifting gears to another country. A little bit of nostalgia just hit me, it was a while ago, but I still can remember the good energy and beautiful landscape with what I felt at the time was one of the last full rice fields in the Canggu area that I saw for the short time I was back.

Frances definitely worked her magic on the makeup, and Elizabeth came with a beautiful collection of couture wedding gowns to shoot while being worn and modeled by the amazing @yelena_hermann.

Following the Water…

It was a real adventure to have to walk through the rising flood waters at 430am to catch a 630am flight, to get to see Malin Fezehai speak again for the first time in over 2 and a half years. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I followed the water, out of what would be one of the worst floods Chiang Mai, Thailand had experienced in years; but that’s a whole other story in itself. I averted most of that situation, but I had no idea it was gonna get as bad as it did.

The weekend of September 6th, 2024, I journeyed to Bangkok, Thailand to listen to 3 of National Geographic’s most amazing creators and Immersive storytellers. Speaking about lives that are dependent on the surrounding waterways, how families and communities survive in some of those remote areas, areas on the verge of decline, whether through drought or overflow, and the sustainability it takes to exist in the regions they are in.

Most importantly, it was really good to hear about what it takes to be able to capture these stories to get the message out, as well as newer ways to document existing landscapes through emerging technologies.

The weekend was truly inciteful, and it was such a good vibe and a pleasure to meet so many amazing new people from Malin’s Natgeo Fam and to get to see a few of my good friends again.

Following the water was truly a fitting conversation for that weekend.

We lived in a house filled with Sabar drums.

Bec and Aba of the @aba_diop_yermande_family welcomed me in their home during my stay in Senegal. The visit was a cultural explosion that I will never forget.
The house was filled with the rhythms of the Sabar Drums and chanting throughout the days.

But one of the best parts of this journey was meeting Bec and Aba and learning of their story together and how they travel the world spreading the sounds of the Senegalese culture through Art, History and Music.

It was definitely meant for me to cross paths with these two and the rest of the family on my African journey. #lovealways
