I’ve been a big fan of Mexican designer Raúl Rojo and his whimsical knitwear brand Pay’s (stylized as PPAAYYSS) for many years — which made him an obvious subject for the first profile I’ve written in Spanish. Published by GQ México, the story explores the expanding scope of Rojo’s creative projects — from Pay’s collaborations with Disney and Sanrio to the artsy coffee shop concept Kiyo, a boutique hotel in Oaxaca, and the artisanal chocolate line Pony on the horizon. Many thanks to @u_u.rojo for your openness, to @rossaguinaga and @yosoymatu for the opportunity, to @mataangelinamata for the creative support, to @irv_gus for the quality control, and to @mocha_cupcake for all the listening and words of wisdom. As a fashion-obsessed kid growing up in Texas, I made collages from the large-format pages of W Magazine while daydreaming about worlds far from my own. To have a feature in the magazine’s annual Art Issue — for the second year in a row (!) — is nothing short of a dream come true. Although I’ve been writing for W since 2022 (story links in bio), this is the first time the magazine has published my photographs in print.

Anchored by a tricky studio visit facilitated by New York/San Antonio-based gallerist and good friend Patricia Ruiz-Healy, the story “Staying Power” explores the life and work of Pedro Friedeberg, the 88-year-old artist behind the 1960s-era design icon the Hand-Chair (Silla-Mano).

Born in Florence, Italy, in 1936, Friedeberg emigrated to Mexico City at the onset of World War II and eventually became a key figure in a circle of influential eccentrics orbiting the likes of Mathias Goeritz, Leonora Carrington and Edward James.

Incredibly prolific to this day, Friedeberg is more famous than ever, thanks in part to Liora Spilk Bialostozky’s 2022 documentary Pedro — recommended viewing on Netflix (which happens to be the name of the incredibly friendly and talkative tabby shown in these photos).

I am over the moon to have six pages (!) in W Magazine’s annual Art Issue! Anchored by Dior’s 2024 Cruise Collection — a love letter to Mexico with nods to Frida Kahlo, metamorphosis and magic realism — the story entailed interviews with six powerful women: Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, Zona Maco founder Zélika García, Latin Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada, World’s Best Female Chef Elena Reygadas, rising visual artist Wendy Cabrera Rubio and artist/activist/Dior collaborator Elina Chauvet. Heartfelt thanks to W and all who helped bring this story to life: @wmag @mariagraziachiuri @diormexico @zelikagarcia @zonamaco @silvanaestradab @restauranterosetta @wendy_cabrera_rubio @elinachauvet 🙏🏻

@chinatifoundation / Chinati Weekend 2026 is a wrap. From weeks of conservation prep in the galleries, to the opening of Richard Long’s exhibition, followed by a conversation with the artist at the Crowley Theatre, to a special performance by Sharon Van Etten. Chinati Artist in Residence Will Boone opened his studio before collaborating with a group of Marfa local musicians at The Wild Mare to perform original songs they wrote together as a band. It was also an opportunity to experience the two Artillery Sheds, home to Donald Judd’s 100 mill-aluminum works in their full glory before a multi-year restoration closure, and to explore the grounds during Open House alongside colleagues, locals and visiting friends of Chinati. Another memorable weekend in Marfa. taken in Marfa, Texas by @bryanrindfuss
