Here's an 11x14 study of a concept I've been interested in since I stumbled upon this fallen pile of Camellia petals two springtimes ago.

I really liked the way the light moved through the petals and created so many variations of color. I'm learning a lot about the forms of the petals and how the light shifts through them, especially in the shadows ... though I felt I was initially moved by the overwhelming feeling of light in this scene I'm finding much of the image and the beauty of the scene is in shadow.

Touching up a winter landscape from last year , adding more varieties of colors and marks. They're never really done it seems...

This painting is inspired by the snowfall two years ago at Island Lake around Silverdale, WA.

A brief look back on the last 5 years of making oil paintings since I started painting in the summers while working as a high school teacher. I quickly got pretty obsessed with the art form and didn’t want to do much else. There’s nothing like working with your hands to make something beautiful .
