some moments worth remembering lately

i was thinking of my grandpa the other day and went on a spontaneous google which led me to find this photo of him (on ebay?!) looking so sharp at the miami philharmonic. i was stunned to see the date had been stamped October 19th. my birthday. couldn’t help but feel i was meant to find it ✨

taking a left turn in a little town i’d never been before, stumbling into this charming local guitar shop, following the feeling.

i’ve had this dress for so long gen z would call it vintage. it still feels like me.

the silly joy it brings to swap my sunglasses onto my @officialannielennox coffee table book. as if she could get any cooler in my eyes.

penny likes to sit on my feet when i record vocals and it is quite the heart melter

dusting off my sight reading skills on the piano. it’s nice to know all those hours practicing growing up are still paying off.

spent the evening trying out new songs under the stars by the sea, and sharing my home bakery at the merch table (which you sold out 🥹✨)

i’ve been tucked away in my little creative bubble, and it means so much to finally start sharing some of what i’ve been up to with you and to see it create such a beautiful space of connection.

Where do I even begin ✨🎂💗 My amazing parents sneakily put my friends up to throwing me the most beautiful, meaningful, and special surprise dinner for my 30th. I saw so much love at the table it overwhelmed me to tears. So many memories of my 20s flashed by just by looking at the faces that surrounded me.

29 was easily the hardest year of my 20s, and I’ll share more on that when I’m ready. For now, I’m just proud to have made it through and to be recognizing myself again.

To top it off, after hearing it was my birthday, the most joyous 83-year-old woman with glassy eyes and a contagious smile said, “Allow yourself to experience everything... Everything. It’s good stuff.” Something tells me she knows what she’s talking about.

Here’s to the songs this decade will bring. To the friendships that will continue to grow. And to embracing the beauty, the ugly, the everything of feeling it all. 30 is feeling damn good so far. by @brycedrew

Back to de roots 🇹🇹🌴🥥 Returning to Trinidad this past June after over ten years felt like both a homecoming and a breath of fresh air. Among coconut forests and the Bamboo Cathedral, I walked to the rhythm of the rain. I saw my grandfather in his siblings’ eyes, met my cousins’ babies, played music down d islands, and tasted the many flavors that shaped my childhood. Curries, doubles, stews, homemade coconut ice cream, my aunty’s pelau… oh my. All with my mom and brother by my side. Some trips aren’t about discovering something new; they’re about remembering what’s always been there. Sweet, sweet T&T. ❤️ by @brycedrew
