@abciview #DogPark is a show made by the very best people and dogs, helmed by @amandaehiggs and Leon Ford who set a tone of respect and genuine collaboration.

So it's very fun to be nominated in this category, amongst such fine peers @caitlinyeo2000 @_mz_ @petercorriganmusic @ediecentric and Matthew Sheers - scroll through pics for info on the projects they worked on.

The nom is for Ep1, directed by Matthew Saville @make_own_way , who gave quite an incredible brief: listen to the work of @graeme_leak as evidence - Graeme builds his own unique instruments from scratch, and we used them plus other 'found percussion' he assembled in his studio in Scotland. The sounds are wild, please check them out on Graeme's page.

He was joined by fave clarinettist @justinbeere and bassist @benmhanlon, and for further eps directed by the fab @ninacbuxton, also guitarist @nick_o_mara and drummer Danny McKenna @mckennamotion. 🙌

Mixed by Rodney Lowe at @production_alley, sound mixed by Steven Witherow @labsonicsmelb, repped by Norman Parkhill, beautifully assisted by @alexandreajane

Thanks to the ABC, particularly Rebecca Anderson. by @bryony.marks.1

Tonight! Limited seats left.
Incredibly fun and phenomenally inventive new concerto for foley, percussion and orchestra by Thomas Meadowcroft (world premier); three beloved works by the iconic David Hirschfelder and a short little piece of mine from @hollsdotter Matthew Saville’s pretty damn extraordinary film, Noise. No pics, just an aural adventure tonight. @melbournesymphonyorchestra at Hamer Hall - going to be a great night, see if you can score a seat! Pictured: the music team for @australianchamberorchestra’s upcoming adaptation of Pinocchio, 9-19 July @ACO’s home at Pier 2/3. Couldn’t have done without the help of @alexandreajane - pictured! - whose attention to detail when formatting the score and parts was perfection, and whose presence in the rehearsal room a huge bonus. We’re working on @finegankruckemeyer1’s script with some phenomenally talented people (@timmcgarry_au, @nat.jobe, @melanieliertz, @veroniquebenettdesign, @jemhoppesmith, @thom_blake77, @bethy_plays_viola_007, @yuhkinoodle, @heatherlindsayy @jeffgalumpa) and it’s so exciting to see it starting to take shape. I would urge anyone with pre and primary school-aged kids to come. It’s beautiful! X taken in Australian Chamber Orchestra by @bryony.marks.1

Was so fun working on @paramount+’s #twoyearslater, starring @phoebejtonkin and @brentonthwaites, with memorable and moving turns by @ladyheathermitchell and @roy_billing.

@emmafreemanmakesfilms was very keen to use accordion, which I loved. @butrumlis played that beast, joined by @yikesville_shane_omara guitars, @spirograph_studies bass, @daniel.farrugia.music and @luckyluscombe drums. All brilliant musicians. @rodney.lowe4 @lesmolnar from @production_alley and @alexandreajane doing all the good things they always do. 👏🙌🏽💫 @wearehoodlum Tracey, Nathan and Steph were fab to work with, and @sophiamogford123 from Paramount was the bomb.

@abciview’s #DogPark premiers this Sunday at 8.30pm. A funny, bittersweet and thoughtful show about community and connection in an increasingly polarised, angry world. I’m not surprised that Paul Kalina gave it ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ in today’s Green Guide, as it’s bloody good!

The heavy hitters who deserve all the credit are @amandaehiggs and Leon Ford who created it and saw it though every step of production with huge intelligence, sensitivity, grace and collaborative spirit. The excellent directors @hollsdotter and @ninacbuxton both brought their own distinctive style and wit to their episodes, and @celia_pacquola, the wonderful Divas and all the crew excelled.

In my own (band)camp, huge thanks and kudos to @graeme_leak, who completed a marathon recording session remotely from rural Scotland, where he acted as both percussionist and mixer, and provided the bed for the entire musical sound of the series using instruments he had made and assembled himself (see his insta page for more details - incredible). Closer to home (@production_alley in Port Melbourne) @justinbeere expertly layered silly amounts of clarinet parts (all exquisitely in tune), and @benmhanlon graced us with his ancient Italian bass and his idiosyncratic style. @nick_o_mara provided some lovely guitar and @mckennamotion went like the blazes on the drums. @rodney.lowe4 recorded and mixed with his usual brilliance, @alexandreajane made it all run smoothly with her beautifully prepared parts and schedule and @stephenwitherow at @labsonicsmelb engineered a fantastic final mix, and managed not to groan (out loud at least) when I asked if Roland’s footsteps could be raised in volume to match the percussion. Thanks Steve.

Watch Dog Park. It’s a ripper. (Of course the dogs are adorable too). X by @bryony.marks.1

Huge treat to be in the audience for @flindersquartet’s wonderful performance of my piece ‘Australia Fair? Volume I, The Australian Dream’ last night. The footage from the NSFA’s collection looked incredible projected onto The Salon’s uniquely beautiful wall at @melbrecital. The Flinders played like the musical magicians they are. Staying in sync with moving pictures for twenty five minutes with no click is terribly difficult, yet they accomplished it with lightness, grace and such musicality.

And very special to also hear Deborah Cheetham Fraillon’s exquisite ‘Bungaree’, honouring Bungaree, a dynamic, brave Kuringgai man, whose many achievements include being pivotal in the success of Matthew Flinders’ circumnavigation of the Australian continent. An achingly moving piece which was so warmly received by the audience. taken in Melbourne Recital Centre by @bryony.marks.1
