The City of Brownsville gathers to honor the life, advocacy, and legacy of RJ Mitte. RJ’s impact extends far beyond the screen; it lives on in the paths he forged and the doors he opened for others in our community, and beyond.
ㅤ
RJ always reminded us that progress is an ongoing journey, leaving us recently with a message to carry forward: "This is not the finish line, this is the starting line.”
ㅤ
Help us carry his mission forward by supporting Cerebral Palsy research or the Mitte Cultural District:

The Brownsville community comes together to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of RJ Mitte.

While millions knew him for his acting role in the TV series Breaking Bad, our community knew him as a person who was generous, kind, and devoted to the local arts, education, and a champion for people with disabilities. As President of The Mitte Foundation, here in Brownsville, RJ played a vital role in developing The Mitte Cultural District and expanding opportunities for our community near and far.

We thank you, RJ, for serving and believing in the people of Brownsville.

Donations in RJ's memory can be made to United Cerebral Palsy or the Mitte Cultural District:

The City of Brownsville is helping preserve local history while making it easier for families to locate their loved ones at the Old City Cemetery.
ㅤ
Using GIS mapping technology, volunteers are photographing headstones, verifying burial information, and updating cemetery records to create a digital map.
ㅤ
The effort will help improve record accuracy and eventually allow families to search for loved ones by name and locate gravesites more quickly and easily, all while preserving an important part of Brownsville’s history.
