Buca was the first! For all of you who don’t know why my insta name is bucascorner, this is it! Swipe to see his beauty and my commemoration of him on my body. He’s the reason I’ve gone on to love and care for 12 bunnies now! In & outers I call them bc of their short life spans. Worth every second!

I had Buca for 7 years of his life after adopting him (in 2005 he was found roaming in a park on Chicago’s South side). He was my first bun love. A bundle of magical joy! My life was forever changed bc of our time together. He was my guide to a whole new world! #myangel #hearthealer #teacher #foreverlove

A gentle bunny nudge & reminder to approach all beings with kindness from the ♥️.
This is a tough time in our world and we r all feeling fragile and on edge. Let’s lift each other ⬆️ rather than tear down.

Boop-Boo! Happy Halloween 🎃👻💀🕸️🕷️ by @bucascorner

Whoa! Today I saved our dear Puppy’s life! So much fear, adrenaline, and quick thinking…

This morning I sprinkled a daily dose of pellets for the buns to forage. A routine they love and look forward to.

I was getting my coffee when I rounded the corner and noticed something was off. Puppy’s head wobbled as he tried to look up at me. Then he coughed up liquid and I heard gurgling.

I knew immediately that he was choking on a pellet and aspirating. I knew this because I’d seen other people’s posts and descriptions about it happening. I always figured that it could happen to me someday, but I wasn’t prepared.

I remembered a video that Kage of @lavender_and_frankfrankie had posted about how to perform Heimlich on a bunny. So with shaky fingers and a fiercely beating heart, I watched the video.

I picked Puppy up and started doing it. The sounds and vibrations of his lungs were terrifying but after about 6 times, it worked!! It cleared! No more gurgling, and I wiped all of the mucus away.

There he sat grooming himself while Nusi gave him kisses. I offered him a treat, and he took it happily. He ran around playfully, looking for more pellets and acting as if nothing had ever happened. He hopped up on his favorite furniture and came over for pets just like normal!

A half a day later, I’m still shaking the shock off!!

Those of you who know me, know that I’m keenly in tune with my rabbits. Even though they’re prey animals they aren’t afraid to show me their signs of weakness or pain. They think I’m one of them and ask me for help.

I have been monitoring his behavior all day and listening to his lungs for any sounds that might indicate he has liquid in them. If anything seems off, he’s straight off to the vet! I did call just after the incident to try and get him in, but there were no emergency appointments left.

I highly encourage other bunny owners to visit @lavender_and_frankfrankie and watch the quick video pinned at the top. They use a stuffed toy (not a real bun) as the example, so it is not hard to watch and boy was it life-changing!! 💖✨

Surgical procedure (phase 4) today and horizontal once more! Hoping this lands me on the path back to wellness. 😇💫

I also started cranial sacral massage/body healing for my bone pain and my body’s response was super positive! 🧚‍♀️

In addition, I’ll be starting MLS Laser Therapy in 3 weeks for my calcific tendonitis on my shoulder. If If all goes well I’ll do my neck and shoulders, my wrists, and my sacrum too.

Hibernation has been fine but I miss you, world! 😘💖✨ by @bucascorner

Sweet Puppy w papa. We are so lucky to have had 3 buns out of 12 who truly LOVE to be held! Such a rarity in rabbits and we never force them. ❤️

Hoppy Bunniversary! Two years ago today, Sweet P (aka Puppy) and his bunwife, Nusi came into our lives after the tragic loss of their young human.

We are honored to spoil them silly for the rest of their bunny-days until they once again are reunited with their bunny mama, Mahdia (last pic).💖✨

I’ve been so sick myself with some fierce crud that my autoimmune system has had a nasty reaction to and has set my condition a-flare! My health has been like walking on a tightrope this year… juggling work w doc appts, surgery, invasive procedures, and rest in between with only little joy moments to reboot. It definitely feels like my life as I once knew it is slipping away but I hold onto all that is good. And I have so much goodness surrounding me in my home, in my friendships, and in my own heart.

And on that note, here is a lil glass blown Moonbug that my husbun got me! 🤍🥰

Surprise! Moonbug has been dealing with minor incontinence too! Due to a broken leg as a wee baby (and in conjunction w his breed), he’s developed hip dysplasia. He can’t always make it into the litter box and often falls over while grooming or trying to reach his cecals. He’s taking Oxbow joint support treats and on Meloxicam (w routine kidney/liver lab work) to keep him comfortable. We also bought him a new litter box with wide front and side entries.

He doesn’t seem like he’s slowing down or unhappy at all! He lives every day happy as a dream w his bunwife Vixey and is smothered in lovies! He’s a little over 6 years old now and is a total toe nibbler! 🤣 We will do all that we can to keep him comfortable and mobile for as long as he’ll tolerate. We do adore our BIG bug from the moon! 🤍💫✨
