Taking back power.
The Barong and Filipiniana - garments carrying the weight of colonial histories, transformed and reclaimed through our bodies. The butterfly sleeves, the silhouettes, the expectations of how a “Filipino body” should look and move.
Shedding.
Transforming.
Taking back what was imposed.
Bukidnon is a cultural tapestry where folklore, spirituality and the esoteric sit so close to everyday life. Every time I return home, I feel the unseen a little closer.
From the stories.
The rituals.

Honouring the generations who have paved this space, especially the queer Filipinos I look up to so deeply. The ones who made space for us to exist, to create, to be loud, to be soft and to become.

I can’t thank @toemass enough for trusting me with this 🥺 Such a huge honour and privilege to create my first queer party performance work.

Some moments from the year 🌱

Over the first 6 months, I’ve had the privilege of learning, listening, immersing myself in new and familiar places, experiencing life across more than 20 cities 🥹

I’m still processing everything this journey has brought. The people I’ve met, the stories I’ve heard, the lessons I’ve carried with me and the moments that have shifted the way I see the world. Feeling incredibly grateful for it all 🙇🏽‍♂️
