Everything I create is made by hand, no exceptions. Printmaking, painting, drawing, all analog, start to finish. If something looks like a repeating pattern, it's because I planned it out and carved or drew it that way on purpose. No shortcuts or digital copies. Making art by hand is leaning into what makes us human. It's a quiet protest against work made by AI, trained on the backs of the great artists who came before us and those if us making work today. Got Honorable Mention for "El Viaje" at the Animalia show at the @artvabeach last night! I love seeing printmaking get recognized in these shows. Huge thanks to curator @jorgeasaenzabstractartist and judge @allbentup for the recognition. And it was a treat getting placed right next to my printmaking friend @michelebarnes2365 work, great company to be in. This piece is a limited edition two block/two color relief print, and I'll have a handful left for sale at @hermitagemuseumva Handmade Festival on September 19 in Norfolk, VA. This framed version is up for sale at the Virginia Beach Art Center along with a ton of other beautiful work, go check it out! 📍September 19th, 11am–4pm, @hermitagemuseumva Handmade Festival: this is the only time you'll catch me with a full library of work from now until the end of the year. The piece in this post will be available during the show, along with other new pieces and some old favorites digging their way out of my flat files! I'm even planning on having a couple of 'misprint'/'test print' files available at a fraction of the original edition costs. This was the very first event I ever did as Buenos Dias Studio, so it'll always have a special meaning for me. Super thrilled to be back this year. Come say hi. Bring a friend who also needs art. Welcomed another workhorse into the studio recently: @diodepress print rack, arguably the most beautiful print drying rack in all the lands. It's not just a drying rack, it's a work of art. This piece allows me to keep my relief print work off surfaces and drying neatly suspended from my studio ceiling. Graham, you asked in your note with the order, "let me know how it works for you." That feeling of getting accepted into a show 😎🤌🏽 My piece Cazadora (My largest relief print to date) got selected for Flowing & Flying, the @dartcenternfk national juried exhibit of waterbirds and waterscapes. The open call pulled 200+ submissions from 22 states. Only 66 pieces from 40 artists made the final cut — 17 states represented. Cazadora's one of them. Every time I get into a show, I have to pinch myself. I still can't believe I get to live this dream of being an artist. The opening reception is Thursday, August 27th, 5:30–7:30pm at d'Art Center, 740 Boush St, Norfolk. Free and open to the public. Exhibit runs August 22nd–September 19th. by @buenosdiasstudio

Day 9 / Skimmer — also known as scissor-bill, shearwater, seadog, flood gull, stormgull, razorbill, and cutwater. A weird, wonderful sea-and-sky creature.
