Behind every trail, tour, event, and beautiful view along Buffalo Bayou is a dedicated team making it happen. Our annual all staff summer bash was a chance to celebrate the people who create and steward parks and trails, clean up the waterway, lead tours, curate public art and programs to engage the community, welcome visitors, and work behind the scenes to bring the Buffalo Bayou green space network to life. We're grateful for our talented and energetic team that makes it all possible! by @buffalobayou

Greater connectivity is coming to downtown Houston 🙌BBP is excited to announce a new off-street, hike and bike trail segment that will connect the existing trail network along the north and south banks of Buffalo Bayou through downtown to developing trails in the Fifth Ward and East End. This small but mighty link will travel along the north bank from the new on-street bike route by @houstonparksboard on Elysian Street to the Heights Hike and Bike Trail west of the McKee Street bridge. We anticipate work to be completed in the fall of this year. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we make strides toward a more connected Houston! by @buffalobayou

Ever noticed the floating barriers collecting litter along Buffalo Bayou? Those are containment booms—one of the tools helping stop trash before it travels downstream to Galveston Bay and the Gulf. Strategically placed based on water flow, wind, and nearby outfalls, the booms capture floating litter where it naturally collects. From there, BBP's Waterway Maintenance team uses the Bayou-Vac, an industrial-strength vacuum boat operating five days a week, to remove the trapped debris for proper disposal. Together, these efforts helped remove more than 2,200 cubic yards of trash and debris from Buffalo Bayou in 2025. Every piece collected is one less piece polluting our waterways. 💧 You can help, too! Reduce your use of single-use plastics, recycle whenever possible, and support BBP's Waterway Maintenance team with a donation.Photos by Zainob+Mathew Create #TrashTuesday #BuffaloBayouPartnership #WaterwayMaintenance by @buffalobayou
