In Undercurrents, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer uses light, sound, and reflection to activate the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern in ways that feel both monumental and deeply personal. Created specifically for this historic underground reservoir, the installation invites visitors to speak into intercoms that convert their voices into pulses of light, transmitted unpredictably across a mile-long network of LED cables.The result is immersive, unexpected, and impossible to fully capture in photos or video—you have to experience it in person.Now on view at the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern.WAG is proud to have facilitated the commission of this remarkable project and to have worked alongside the artist and project partners to help bring this vision to life. by @thecistern

Heads up! Due to a large event, Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern tours will be walk-up only on Saturday, June 6.To book your experience, please visit The Water Works Visitor Center. Tours are available from 10 AM to 6 PM, with the last entry at 6 PM. by @thecistern
