Humbled to be on the list again amongst the brightest in our industry. #ad100

Thank you @archdigestindia for the honor. We wouldn’t be here without my team and their unwavering support and hard work. We wouldn’t be here without our ‘shaukin’ clients who allow us to experiment and push ourselves with each project.

We are so lucky to be doing something we love. In the end, as always sending love and gratitude to the world.

Thank you, Architectural Digest.

GOA VILLA FOR SALE: Toybox is a contemporary restoration of a 150-year old Portuguese house in Goa. Register your interest at the #linkinbio

THE POETRY OF TOYBOX

The windows at Toybox were shy little squares, peeking out but never quite stepping forward.

So we had a quiet conversation with the house. Asked it to open up a little.

We didn’t barge in. We coaxed it. Gently.

Now, there are large sliding-folding teak doors that open wide to the verandah. Custom-built to fit the nearly 24-inch-thick walls, because yes, these walls were built before insulation had a name, and somehow still do a better job.

Spaces to unwind, reflect surrounded by the breeze and the outdoors, or to welcome your loved ones, to entertain and be among friends.
Places for solitude and places for gathering at the House With Three Pavilions.

This project, located in Aldona, is a Indo-Portuguese home in Goa that has stood for over 150 years that we are currently restoring it. Restoring a house like this is not like building something new. Every decision starts with research: old construction methods, original materials, and how the house was built to breathe and age. Then comes the delicate part. We can only move one step at a time.

The best part? Most days we don't know what we will find. Something as simple as chipping away plaster can reveal an old detail, a hidden arch, or a material no one has seen in decades. The house keeps telling us its story, and our job is to listen carefully. by @buildgrounded

Good architecture does not demand to be admired. It quietly takes its place in your life.

Good architecture does not demand to be admired. It quietly takes its place in your life.

Perhaps that is what makes a space lasting: not how loudly it speaks, but how naturally it becomes part of the way we live.

"I do not believe architecture has to speak too much. It should remain silent and let nature in the guise of sunlight and wind"

The same brick, laid by the same hands, creates three completely different walls at Woodbine II. A course sits over a running bond, giving the wall a tight, heavy, grounded quality. Above it, the wall opens into a jaali, with bricks set at an angle and staggered to allow light and air to pass through while keeping the view filtered. With no cladding or plaster to hide behind, every course has to be checked for level and line. In the late-morning sun, with the light falling behind the jaali, the entire wall begins to glow.

Huge respect to the masons laying this, course by course, with such precision and patience.

More from Woodbine II soon. taken in Chikballapur by @buildgrounded

Some days the swing gets claimed before the laptops even open. Breakfast turns into Uno, lunch gets laid out and we all share meals together. Somewhere between 2.30 and 4.30 the work actually gets done, headphones on, garden right there, kids swinging loud and enthusiastic outside. By 5.30 someone's learning carrom the hard way, and by 6.30 everyone's logged out. A full day of work and a full day of being a kid, in the same house. 🌿
