Ry and I were slightly delulu/confused taking a 8pm dinner reservation (11pm Cali time).

Don’t ask me for sleep advice unless you wanna hear “let go and let god” haha. I’ve always had the mentality that he might be my only baby so better cherish all the moments.

It’s surprisingly given us a lot of flexibility when traveling since he doesn’t need a specific sleep environment. We are the sleep environment.

What a gift it is to snuggle him.

In 2020 we bought a house built by our great grandfathers!! My great grandfather was the architect and Ryan’s was the contractor. When we got married it was our dream to buy one of the houses that they designed and built together, and now here we are!! This house has been through a lot, it was a college sorority house at one point, college men’s basketball team house, etc. I’ve met several people since we moved in who took one look at our house and said “woah I used to rage here”. When we moved in it was clear that the previous occupants had tried to make the ice maker into a margarita machine… but that’s a story for another day.

Safe to say it’s needed some TLC.

Follow along as we transform it into our forever home 🏠

This is your sign to invest in a really good hot glue gun.

I’ve always loved making costumes. But life is FULL right now. We didn’t even get a chance to carve pumpkins this year. Might do it today because, why not? If you’re seeing this, you aren’t the only Mom who finished their kid’s costume an hour before trick or treating !!

Next up: windows and waterproofing !!!

Can we get it done before the next rain? The suspense is killing me!

It’s all for him! I wasn’t sure if he would understand this process but he definitely knows it’s our house and he wants to “help” build it and constantly asks to “check house” so we drive by to see it several times a a day!

How do you cope when growing your family doesn’t go as planned??? Salt water and Jesus. Plus an incredible support system of family and friends. We have had more than a few bumps throughout this journey and our TTC bingo card has filled up over the years. By my bathroom mirror I have Ephesians 3:20 posted as a daily reminder that God is working in my story daily.

God has the power to give His followers more than we even know how to ask for. His plan is so much greater than I can even comprehend or pray for (though I can try). We prayed for years for a baby and our son is so much better than I could have even imagined or known to pray for. I wouldn’t have even known the words to ask for him 6 years ago. He is the daily reminder that things work out the way they are meant to be.

I always say if you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans (I thought I’d have 5 babies by now). But His plan is greater!

If you’ve made it this far you may be in a similar position and looking for answers or understanding. I don’t have it all figured out but I have learned some things over the last 6 years and I hope to share more to help others who may be walking a similar journey. I want to use our story for GOOD. Follow along for more.

Once all the walls came down, I had an epiphany. What if we just… move this wall over 5 ft and move the front door into the living room. It doesn’t really give us an entry way but I think entryways can be a waste of space… this not only gives us a wider living room but extended the kitchen more then 5 feet as well !!

Only cost us a 5 week delay after demo…

Wouldn’t be a construction project without a delay! May be the difference between making it in by Christmas or not.

Worth it ???

Demo highlights !!!!

What I was most looking forward to was tearing down the back room that we lovingly referred to as “the sh***y addition” from the day we moved in. We learned was in fact full of mold (I suspected) and whoever built it just stuck it to the back of the stucco house and not very well… allowing a lot of moisture to hang out in there.

We found evidence of Ryan’s great grandpa building the original house !! And I don’t think I’ll ever forgive whoever tore out the adorable yellow kitchen tile.

I have a lot more updates to catch up on later this week. Stay tuned !!

It’s easy for ART to take over your life. We were planning to do another egg retrieval this month (would have been my 4th round of stims) but my body needed a break after the last couple of months. Finding a balance between living in the moment and exploring all possible avenues to get where we want to be is the trickiest part.

Taking this time to regroup as a family! Counting our blessings and enjoying the miracle we do have, while leaving room for more ✨

BIG BONUS: I asked the demo team to try and preserve my lady banks rose in the front that Ryan gave me for Valentine’s Day our first year living here and they did 🥹

Despite the excavator chaos, It’s not a complete tear down ! We left the 2 back bedrooms and bathrooms. I definitely did not realize how much of the house would be torn down but after finding so much mold I was grateful that we took this route! I don’t think the mold is the cause of some of my health issues but it definitely wasn’t helping !

Walking around and reimagining our new house was surreal.
