Comparison is a strange thingwhen you actually look at it.

You see someone’s body, relationship, money, confidence, business, life.
Then thought fills in everything you can’t see.

“They’re happier than me.”

“They’ve got their shit together.”

“They’re ahead.”

“I should be further along.”

But who exactly are you comparing yourself to?

Not really them your image of them.
Then you compare that image with an image you have of yourself.
And somehow one imaginary character starts losing to another. 😂

Maybe comparison isn’t always between two people.

Maybe it’s between two stories in the mind.

Something I’ve seen.

People are f*cking exhausted from “trying”to become “something” (psychologically)

Trying to be more confident.

More healed.

More disciplined.

More spiritual.

More attractive.

More successful.

And so on.

Even trying to become more present.

Then you catch them laughing with their mates chatting shit, dancing in very interesting ways 😂, playing with their kids, sitting in the sun doing “nothing” and in that moment there’s no self improvement project. Just what is.

No fixing.

Nobody checking whether they’re doing life correctly.

Just life happening.

Then the mind comes back like “Right, where was I?”

Wanting to be understood can become somewhat of another psychological prison.

For example you explain yourself.
Then explain the explanation.
Then explain why they misunderstood the explanation 😂.
And somewhere along the way their version of you starts becoming really important 🤷🏾‍♂️.

But look at what actually happened.

They had a thought about you.

Then you had a thought about their thought.

Now there’s a whole shit show.

Maybe they misunderstand you.

Maybe they judge you.

Maybe they never see you the way you want them to.

Okay.

What does any of that actually change about what you are?

Not the answer in your head.

Something I’ve noticed.

People are constantly being told there’s somewhere to get to.

More healed.

More successful.

More confident.

More spiritual.

More worthy.

As if life is something you eventually qualify for.

But before all of that, before the story of who you are. Before what you think you need to become. Before even the idea that this moment is enough….

What’s actually missing?

Don’t answer it.

Look.

And see what happens before the mind starts piping up 👁️😊 by @builtinstillness

Not every feeling needs to become a story and sometimes a feeling can’t be explained with words.

Something moves through the body and almost instantly the mind wants to explain it.

Why am I feeling this?
What does this mean?
What does this say about me/them?
How do I get rid of it?

And sometimes, in “trying” to understand everything, we keep alive what was already passing.

Feel it.

Notice it.

Let it move.

You might be surprised by how little needs fixing when it isn’t constantly being turned into something by @builtinstillness
