An Evening with Bull Funk Zoo and their music

We’ll be performing tracks from our latest album PY, while talking through the process of writing, producing, building ideas from scratch, and letting music move in real time.

We’ll also be diving into philosophies behind the sound, improvisation in motion, with audience collaboration woven into the experience.

Curated by none other than Ratish Chadha.

I mixed the entire PY album down to 1/4” tape at 7.5ips on my modified Akai machine—chasing a sonic texture that felt as unique as the music itself.

I went through three different tape formulas—BASF, 3M, and Maxell. Maxell came out on top. Warmth, grit, vibe—everything locked in.

“I printed Side A on a fresh reel… and Side B on a completely new reel. Why? Because I wanted each half of the album to have its own unique sonic vibe—just like the music itself.”

I didn’t just want clean—I wanted character. Imperfection. Life. That’s what PY sounds like. And this is how I made it breathe. by @bullfunkstudios
