🫧 This Why OPhiA Wednesday, we asked Junior @maya.jade.39, Why OPhiA? Here’s what she said:

“I joined OPhiA because I wanted to meet more people and give back to the city of Boston, and I gained that and so much more. Through OPhiA, I’ve made lifelong friendships and finally found my place at BU.

Going to such a large school can feel so overwhelming, but spending time with my sisters grounds me. Service reminds me that there is so much beauty in Boston and there are so many ways I can help maintain it. Being able to help people through OPhiA allows me to reflect on my experiences and all of the ways other people have impacted me.

I am so grateful for the community that OPhiA has given me. Shoutout to my big, Willa, my twin, Anna, and my beautiful pookie bear, Lojyn! I have so much love for all of my sisters, and I am so thankful for all of the love that OPhiA gives me. YAYYY ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️” by @buophia

September Service Wrapped! 🩵⭐️☁️🫧

We got up to quite a bit, from multiple esplanade cleanups to walking for breast cancer awareness through the American Cancer Society 💞 We also collaborated with other organizations such as ESO and BPO, so big shoutout to them! 🫧 This week we asked our Sister of the Week, Shelby Rose Long, “Why OPhiA”? Here’s her response:

“Hi! This is my fifth semester in OPhiA and I can confidently say joining is one of the best decisions I’ve made at BU. It seems I have an OPhiA sister to sit next to in every class I take and someone is always willing to grab a coffee or go out to dinner. I got to be one of our new member moms in spring 2026 and it was such an honor to watch a whole group of new girls get to experience a space that I have loved so much. My favorite service events are trash pickup collaborations with the environmental student organization (the club I’m president of) because all my favorite people get to meet each other and serve our nearby communities.“ by @buophia

🫧We asked Emilia Liu, our DEI co-director and senior studying Psychology, “Why OPhiA?” Here’s what she said:
“Joining OPHIA has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my time at BU. As an international student, finding a place that felt like home was never that easy. But OPHIA made it possible, through the warm, safe, and supportive environment our sisters have created.

Through OPHIA I met so many lovely and inspiring sisters who share the same passion in service as I do. I love that we are able to spend time with each other, make memories, and give back to our community at the same time. This mix of friendship, love and service is what makes OPHIA so special to me.

I am so grateful that OPHIA gave me people I can call family. Shoutout to my big Michelle (she graduated🫰🏻🥺) my twin CC, and my cutie little Hanuri for always being there for me! AND SHOUTOUT TO ALL OF MY CUTIE SISTERS! OPHIA will always be a highlight of my college years and you guys ROCKKK, I love all of you guys! So thankful to have this opportunity to express my gratitude, even though words can never be enough for how much OPHIA has given me.
