For the latest issue of @artasiapacific Annie Ochmanek sat down with Monique Burger and Olivia Shao, Burger Collection Curator @drawingcenter to discuss the upcoming exhibition “Form, Shadow, Motion: Selections from the Burger Collection,” opening Oct 22 at The Drawing Center New York, and travelling to @asiasocietyhk in March 2027 during Hong Kong art week.

Continuing the museum’s tradition of exhibitions drawn from notable private collections, Shao selected fifty works from our holdings of more than 1000 works on paper to construct a focused visual essay on shared historical, poetic, and philosophical concerns, with Hong Kong and New York as twin points of reference and Eastern thought and Western philosophy as its guiding frameworks.

The exhibition will include works by Kai Althoff, Monika Baer, Alvin Baltrop, Ranti Bam, Fiona Banner, KP Brehmer, Cao Yu, Valentin Carron, Filipa César, Pak Sheung Chuen, Simone Fattal, Isabella Fürnkäs, Theaster Gates, Tsibi Geva, Robert Gober, Harmony Hammond, Nadia Kaabi-Linke, Kong Chun Hei, Alicja Kwade, Koon Wai Bong, Annie Lai Kuen Wan, Nick Mauss, Shinoh Nam, Shirin Neshat, Christine Ng Mien Yin, Meret Oppenheim, Blinky Palermo, Julia Phillips, Qiu Shihua, Norbert Schwontkowski, Hiroshi Sugito, Vivian Suter, Maria Taniguchi, Anne Truitt, Franz West, Jack Whitten, Tadanori Yokoo, and Zarina.

A poetic documentary dance film follows a woman’s journey to transcend language through movement. Across three chapters - Bread, Salt, Dream - she encounters dancers from the far edges of society, each carrying their own histories of displacement and resilience. Together they reveal dance as a language of connection, nuance and hope. The war has fractured everything, but not the dream.

So proud of this collaboration with Sharon. #toymeetsart #burgercollection by @burgermonique

48 hours at the Venice Biennale. Venice Biennale 2026, titled In Minor Keys and curated from the vision of Koyo Kouoh, turns the city once again into the center of the art world from 9 May to 22 November 2026. Always special to reconnect with friends and artists and to stumble upon genuinely resonant shows, even if the constant political posturing and inflated self‑importance around the event feel more exhausting each year.

We are proud to support @fairplayforall in Payatas since 2018 in memory of Yves. A core focus of TOY’s support is human resources—an area that is often
overlooked in traditional funding. By investing in the people behind the
programs, TOY has ensured that Fairplay can maintain a dedicated and
capable team working daily with children and youth in Payatas. This support
directly translates into stronger mentoring relationships, better program
delivery, and more consistent outcomes for our beneficiaries taken in Philippines by @burgermonique

So proud to have had the intuition for realizing the book "Integer Studies", by Jitish Kallat

Numbers are a human invention, abstraction born of our impulse for order, tools that help us navigate both the infinite and the finite. When translated into language, they enter another register, carrying meanings beyond their own measure. They generate systems far removed from counting, becoming code, notation, maps, or proportion.

Integer Study (Drawing from Life) occupies a singular place within Jitish Kallat's oeuvre, extending his sustained inquiry into time and transience while exploring correspondences across scales of existence. Over 365 consecutive days 2021, Kallat made one drawing each morning, guided by real-time population data: the estimated number of humans alive at that moment, and the births and deaths recorded since midnight. These three integers, drawn from a real-time algorithm, formed the conceptual armature for each daily work on paper.

Thank you to everyone mentioned for the support. This milestone work would not have been possible without all of you.

Ready for the first field trip.. A TOY cap project. Enrico and Pedro support a "shelter home" for children in Sao Paulo. All these children suffered from abuse in their families. In this new home, they experience love, care and kindness.
Pedro and Enrico prepared well equipped backpacks with food and gifts for their first field trip.

The smiling faces of these beautiful children will stay with them forever.
Thank you. Much love and TOY Monique taken in São Paulo, Brazil by @burgermonique

present – on Mount Pilatus (2,132 m above sea level) from 16 January to 26 April 2026

Thank you Céline for this Fotoshoot. I had so much fun. Why tame yourself when you get older. A great outfit can make you remember old times, but at the same time it can make you happy today. taken in Fashion Inspiration by @burgermonique

"Whispers On The Horizon" curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, curators of the Taipei Biennale, is a must see this season. 54 artists from 35 cities worldwide highlight a universal yearning. Yearning is a force that stretches across time and geography. It is the ache of lost homes and forgotten histories, the quiet pull of a future that never fully arrives. It is not simply nostalgia, nor is it hope—it exists in-between, in the suspended space where past, present, and future collide. Whispers on the Horizon traces this longing as it manifests in personal narratives and collective memory, resonating between reality and illusion, belonging and displacement, permanence and disappearance. taken in 臺北市立美術館 Taipei Fine Arts Museum by @burgermonique
