In conversation with Tom Burr

To mark the opening of Tom Burr’s exhibition at Bortolami - and just after his birthday - we’re revisiting our Issue 07 interview, originally published with words by Charlie Mills. Burr reflects on site, displacement, queer subjectivity and the blurred line between public and private - ideas that continue to run through his work today.

“The spatial play of the two works together, each with their own intrinsic meanings and histories, along with their shared turning and twisting of monochromatic painting, was gratifying for me to experience on a number of levels; like a dialogue that has continued over time, a form of resilience.”
