Houston matcha recap 🍵

Tried 7 spots and these are our honest thoughts 👀 Not ranking them best to worst because they all have different styles. I just like matcha that’s balanced, not overly sweet, and still actually tastes like matcha.

We’ve tried a lot of matcha, but there’s a reason we keep coming back to @rockysmatcha 💙 The quality, consistency, color, and that smooth, balanced flavor just hits every time. Osada especially has been sooo good in our lattes. Creamy, slightly nutty, with just enough umami without overpowering the drink.

Good matcha really does make a difference 🌟

Their matcha is consistently smooth, vibrant, and premium quality. If you’re shopping on Amazon, it’s definitely one of the brands we’d recommend checking out. Toyokage has to be our favorite so far. 🫶

Steal our everyday matcha ratio:
• 3.8–4g matcha
• 60g water
• 10–14g agave
• 150g oat milk

We found this to be the perfect ratio for an everyday matcha. Not too thick, not too strong and refreshing enough to enjoy every day😮‍💨

Testing which sweetener goes best with matcha 🍵

After trying a few different ones, agave is our favorite so far. It blends really well with the drink while still letting the matcha be the star

We used to use maple syrup a lot and we still love it, but we feel like it shines more with flavored matcha lattes since it adds its own unique taste.

Honey was actually pretty good too, but the floral notes can be a little strong and might overpower the matcha for some people

Also re-tested brown sugar at home and… we get the hype now 😭 it pairs surprisingly well with matcha!

Everyone has their own perfect matcha combo, so we’re curious…

After all the taste testing, tweaking recipes, and all the overwhelming support… we’re finally ready to share it with everyone 🤍

Matcha hopping in CC part.2

Their matcha is smooth, refreshing, and leans more toward the umami/vegetal side. We feel like the matcha becomes a little more subtle once it’s mixed with milk, but overall it’s still really balanced, refreshing, and enjoyable to drink. For the blueberry matcha, we wish the blueberry flavor stood out a bit more.

🍵 Mamako
We’ve been here quite a few times, and our experience has varied a little. The last couple of times we couldn’t really taste the matcha much, but this visit it came through a lot more and was actually really good. Their matcha is creamy, umami forward, and leans toward the vegetal side.

If you try Mamako, we’d recommend ordering around 75% sweet. We personally find it more balanced that way since we can taste both the matcha and the flavor we’re ordering. Our favorite flavors so far are Blueberry, Banana Cream (yes, we’ve ordered this one multiple times 😆), and White Chocolate Mocha (s/o to Jacob).

*As always, everybody enjoys different kinds of matcha, so don’t let our ratings stop you from trying a place for yourself. 😄
