Tonight! I’m excited to be one of the artists participating in the Hidden Florida Exhibition at CityArts.

I’ll be exhibiting my painting “Arching Oaks,” inspired by the entrance to the dojo at Arching Oaks Arts and Culture Center in Eustis, Florida—a peaceful place dedicated to sharing Japanese arts and cultural traditions right here in Central Florida.

I’d love for you to come out tonight and experience Hidden Florida and discover some of the places, stories, and hidden gems of Florida through the eyes of the participating artists.

Sometimes the smallest parts of a painting are the ones I spend the most time thinking about.

When I paint a scene, I’m not only thinking about the main subject. I’m thinking about what is happening around them too—the people in the background, what they’re carrying, the landscape, the colors, and all the little pieces that help tell the story.

Some of those details may only take up a tiny part of the canvas, but to me they help make the world inside the painting feel alive.

I also love knowing that someone can look at one of my paintings today and notice something completely different the next time they see it.
