THANK YOU to the Philly folks, fam and all the other supporters of #keithharing @keithharingfoundation - your voices were heard loud and very clearly this morning! “We the Youth” - 1987. “A rare Keith Haring mural is now part of the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places, marking the first time the city has historically designated an outdoor mural. The Philadelphia Historical Commission unanimously approved the underlying nomination during its meeting Friday. The vote came after a string of neighbors and experts expressed passionate support for preserving the deteriorating mural in Point Breeze. Commissioners said Friday that strong public support for the mural was an important part of its decision to designate the artwork. What commenters have really brought to the fore … was that, if we do not designate, we have no role in how this property, this mural, is treated. And given the paramount and eminent historical significance that we’ve had ample evidence to, both in the nomination and those who’ve spoken today, it seems to me it would not be fulfilling our role acting in the public interest to not designate this mural, Commissioner Emily Cooperman said.” @simoncastets @jgruen3 @gbothepro @_gilvazquez @yennakills @kayharing2 @bradgooch @cityofphiladelphia @planphilly @pointbreezeba @citykids_nyc @muralarts @janegoldenmuralarts @gladstone.gallery @kennyscharf @monument_lab @publicartfund To see recorded footage from the proceedings: @interstellar_isabellar by @bychance621

Waking up with this sculpture “Truisms” by #jennyholzer @jennyholzerstudio never gets old. A fond reminder of her Times Square Billboards. #language #contemporary #art by @bychance621

In 2009 during Art Basel Miami Beach, I found myself at the NADA Fair in the historic Deauville Hotel. Down in the basement with the green shag carpeting I entered a booth featuring among other works, a small dandelion sprouting from the baseboards. On learning that it was actually a “bronze sculpture” by #tonymatelli @tonymatelli - everything just stopped for me! A different perspective. That feeling has stuck with me eversince and I relish that. Whenever I encounter them, as I did recently with this image, I am reminded of his artistry, his supportive team at the studio and ultimately his unwavering commitment to his art. Reviewing his catalog “Matelli Studio 1995-2022” again re-affirms that consistency in his practice… looking forward to seeing more and inspiring others along the way. @newartdealers @maruanimercier @ninomiergallery by @bychance621

Even on a rare sunlit day at the @legionofhonor locating this #sculpture “The Holocaust Memorial at California Palace of the Legion of Honor” 1984 by #georgesegal (painted white bronze) is slightly obscured from view. It serves as a powerful memorial overlooking the Golden Gate and the Pacific Ocean to the West. The original plaster cast is held by the Jewish Museum in New York. by @bychance621

A pleasant afternoon exploring the collection at the @achenbach_famsf @deyoungmuseum hosted by #natalialauricella and #margotyale @meppy7 - housing the largest collection of works on paper in the western United States and is home to more than 90,000 prints, drawings, photographs, and artists’ books from the 15th century to today. Here are some of the gems pulled from the vaults of prints they selected… my head is still spinning! Thank You. (Images: curatorial room.
