How do you plan to work with communities in a way that’s more than just a product?

Someone asked me that once, and I’ve carried it with me ever since.

At the time, I gave an answer.
But I’m still learning what that answer looks like in practice.

Some of that learning happens during visits to homes and workshops, over shared meals, or while wandering through local melas and markets.

Often with a small touristy detours.

Spending time together helps me understand the lives, stories and decisions behind the textiles I work with and why people choose to work with me, too.

I bring ideas.

The people I learn from bring knowledge that changes them.

HUEMAD is growing through that exchange.
