Etter en fantastisk konsert på OverOslo-festivalen i juni, er jeg på veien igjen. Jeg gleder meg til samle gjengen nok en gang, denne gangen for spillinger på Sørøyrocken, Markomeannu, Trevarefest og Rakettnatt-festivalen. I august blir det konsert sammen med Bugge Wesseltoft på Oslo Jazz, hvor vi deler scene med den legendariske amerikanske trommeslageren Brian Blade. Welcome the fantastic Nyckelharpa-player John Stenersen to the By Norse Family✨️Norwegian musician John Stenersen steps into the spotlight with his highly anticipated solo project. Stenersen has spent the last 15 years secretly developing this project, carefully crafting a sound that is now finally ready for the world. Stenersen is known from his performances with Wardruna, Gåte and Bergtatt.The music centers around the nyckelharpa, an ancient bowed Nordic string instrument. Stenersen acts as a modern-day tradition keeper, bridging the gap between past and present by transforming archaic sounds and songs into dark, up-tempo, danceable arrangements.John Stenersen says:"By Norse was the obvious choice for me. After ten years of working alongside them with Wardruna, they feel like family. They aren't just passionate about the music; they genuinely care about the artist. I have been developing this solo project on and off for the past 15 years, and with Wardruna now taking a tour break, the timing lined up perfectly. It’s incredibly rewarding to join a team that completely understands my creative vision and wants to help me grow as a solo artist without trying to change who I am. Some people have asked why we released the Dolla (The Flame) single after the film rather than before.The answer is simple: it was the audience’s response to the film that inspired us to record and release the song as a single.The stunning work of Kristian Svalestad Olstad and Stein Austrud made this recording possible and brought new life to this beautiful composition by Isak Samuel Hætta. The music video for Dolla follows the footsteps of a time and reality that shaped both John-Reier’s life and my own.Watching Máret Áile Gaup Beaska portray me, and Øyvind Sørensen Rørtveit portray John-Reier, has been an emotional experience. I have a deeply personal connection to the song “Dolla” by Isak Samuel Hætta. I sang “Dolla” (“The Flame”) at the funeral of John-Reier, who died far too soon. In my youth, he was my boyfriend and one of the people who most inspired me to recognize the value of my Sámi heritage. Today, I’m honored to share that the studio version of this beautiful song is now available on all digital platforms.
