I’m super excited to share that I’m currently offering this work for sale through the Bonhams Staff Art Show in London 💚💙 The auction is open until August 22nd, and you can scope the link in my bio to place a bid. This is a slick opportunity to acquire one of these larger pieces from the XX.XX.XX project, two from the same series having been exhibited at the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2022. But in addition to this being a fine occasion to expand your collection, it’s a great chance to give to charity. The buyer’s premium from the sale will be donated to West Central London Mind, a community-based organisation that provides mental health support and clinical interventions for folks across London. A defender that hastily fouls in order to stop the play and regain possession of the ball is doing something, but said something hardly constitutes elite defensive play in most cases. Arrant brawn surely is important. However, a really refined defensive game additionally requires court awareness, careful study of one’s opponent, and a holistic understanding of the real-time dynamics that unfold over the course of any given matchup.

In this sense, playing good defense in basketball is an apt analogy for writing about art. by @bytebop
