![8 THINGS I LEARNED AFTER PASSING A KIDNEY STONE π°ππ₯
1. You cannot do it alone. Thatβs why there are emergency rooms.
2. Canadaβs hospitals are still A+. I had a very positive experience with ALL the staff [reception, nurses ER docs, urologists] at @ottawahospital . From check-in to triage to diagnosis to discharge. Always remember that wait times are out of their control and show kindness.
3. Do not try to bike to work when the kidney stone is stuck. This should be obvious, but it is worth repeating. In my defence, the pain only started 10 minutes into my ride.
4. Your body is a delicate microchip. I have no idea how we are all alive and functional on a daily basis when the human body is dealing with billions of potential issues minute-to-minute.
5. Pain meds are goooooood. When the hospital says take the meds, take the meds.
6. Every moment without pain is a gift. This is another one of my regular reminders that gratitude does not always have to be a big thing. Every day that you are feeling healthy and happy can be a moment of mindfulness.
7. Your support team is filled with love. Thank you all for taking time out of your day to check in with me. It meant a lot. Of course, my biggest supporter @tammynutrition had my back from check in to discharge and beyond β₯οΈ
8. Sometimes you cannot make a Friday 6:29am workout. Life sometimes gets in the way of an @arboretumhillclub workout, but just make sure to bring a doctorβs note the following Friday.
May you be blessed with never experiencing a kidney stone.
