On a recent adventure in Alaska’s Kenai Mountains, fall looked a lot more like winter. For @carlypadra, early snow was part of a day exploring old mine trails, with the history as much a draw as the scenery.

Through stream crossings, rock fields and snow, NAVAgaiter® GTX helped keep the elements out for a full day out on the trails. by @kahtoola

Last month, friends of Kahtoola @rayzahab and @ericbatty set out to complete a double crossing of Canada’s remote and rugged Baffin Island.

Their 217 km journey took them coast to coast and back again in just over four days, through rocky riverbeds, Arctic tundra and just about every kind of weather. Here’s a small glimpse of the landscapes and moments along the way. by @kahtoola

Last season, @kahtoola sent me a pair of their MICROspikes GHOST to test, and I can tell you they’re SO great. I really enjoyed using them.

REVIEW: https://mountain-hiking.com/kahtoola-ghost-microspikes-review/

While keeping the 12 stainless steel spikes for grip on ice, the GHOST design replaces the traditional steel chains that connect the spikes underfoot with a lightweight thermoplastic connective framework—which makes the GHOSTs overall smaller, more packable, and impressively light.

But what stood out to me the most, actually, was how much easier they are to take on and off than other spike designs. During shoulder season, when I was repeatedly switching between bare trail and ice and my fingers were cold, I found less wrestling with gear was a huge help.

So: Lightweight, easy to use, a pleasure to hike in. GHOSTs get a very enthusiastic recommendation from me.

Meet Cat, our Warranty and Repairs Associate who runs our Renewed Gear program. She takes us behind the scenes to share why we give gear a second life, how she inspects it, and what it all comes back to: getting outside.

Our Renewed Gear sale ends Oct. 27, and there’s still time to find quality winter traction for less. Shop through the link in our bio. by @kahtoola

Fall hiking comes with some pretty great views, but also its fair share of wet trails.

On a recent hike in New Hampshire, @coltfilms_ put our new TERRAgaiter™ to work keeping water, mud and debris out. New this fall, TERRAgaiter joins two redesigned models in our waterproof gaiter lineup, all built to be ultralight, easy to use and provide improved fit and coverage.

Two weeks only: our Renewed Gear sale is now live, with stretch-on traction at 40% off and crampons at over 50% off. When we get returns, demo stock and other inventory we can’t sell in new conditions, we make sure it’s still in good condition and sell it during this sale to keep great products in use.

Sale ends Oct. 27 — shop at the link in our bio by @kahtoola

Our Renewed Gear sale is back! From Oct. 13-27, we’re offering a selection of gently used hand-inspected items at a great price. It’s our way of ensuring gear stays in use and saying thank you to our community.

As always, inventory is limited and items tend to go quick. This year, we’re offering all stretch-on traction including MICROspikes Ghost™ plus K10 hiking crampons, all backed by the same warranty as our new items — 4 years for stretch-on traction and 3 years for crampons.

Maximum coverage for the toughest conditions. Meet the fully redesigned NAVAgaiter® GTX.

Our most protective waterproof gaiter was already built for demanding days, so we listened to user feedback to make it even better. Starting with coverage, we’ve added extra length to cover up to the knee, and we’ve simplified fit based on calf size. Our new DuraLink® instep strap is easier to adjust, even with gloves on, and the improved routing means a tighter seal around your footwear and less chances of snow, mud or grit pushing in from below.

At 6 oz per pair, it’s one of the lightest full-height gaiters out there, yet doesn’t skimp on durability. We use an ultra-tough 1000D ballistic nylon lower for reinforced protection, while the GORE-TEX upper adds breathability.

Pair it with waterproof boots, and you’re ready for deep snow, wet brush, loose rock, mud and rough terrain where extra coverage and durability matter.

Since Kahtoola was founded in 1999, we’ve focused on our purpose beyond creating products. But what does that mean exactly?

It shows up in two ways: protecting public lands and supporting communities. Through the Kahtoola Philanthropy Program (KPP), we’ve dedicated 1% of revenue to organizations that are making a difference for Indigenous communities, promoting environmental responsibility, and helping to enhance meaningful connections to the outdoors.

@tolanilake_enterprise is an example of one of those organizations — farm manager Rymond Curley and team work with Native communities in northern Arizona to strengthen food and water security, share agricultural techniques, and pass knowledge to the next generation.

We believe success is better when shared, and it starts with the people and places in our backyard on the Colorado Plateau. This is our Product + Purpose mindset 🌱 ❤️
