8 years ago in the basement of a West Village wine nook, I met @kaitlynbarclay

Actually, I met her for the second time. The first time turned out to be a pride party wearing gold biker shorts covered in glitter. Unfortunately, neither of us remembered this, but we do have a picture somewhere to prove it.

In said wine nook on our blind friend date, we discovered we cared deeply about the same things. An equal and possibly greater pull was that we were also enraged by all the same things. In our case, this happened to be the status quo. Over the course of dinner, we sketched out the what-ifs, the possibility of starting a different kind of creative agency. Doing it our way, a way we knew should exist but didn’t.

I’ll never forget when Kaitlyn looked at me deadpan and said, “If you’re serious, let’s meet across the street at that coffee shop at 8 a.m.”

And so we did. We met at Think Coffee the next morning. Eight years later, we’ve met almost every day since. Funny enough, we’re still chipping away at the same vision. Only now, our seedling idea has grown into something much bigger than us. We’ve got an incredible team we love to work alongside, clients all over the world who are making a dent in the status quo. Couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate how far we’ve come than a light-up dance floor, surrounded by community, and a theme: Fortune Favors the Bold. If I really think about it though, I’d say fortune favors the consistent, the patient, the resilient. Fortune favors those who grow together and those who choose the long game. Unfortunately that just doesn’t sound as catchy and definitely doesn’t fit on a napkin. taken in Nightmoves by @bywillowhill
