ATL. New Album pre-order:

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

🌻 44 years ago TODAY I landed on this EARTH and I’m launching a Kickstarter for a new album to mark the occasion! (Link in bio.)

I created my last two releases this way, and both were deeply fulfilling experiences thanks to so many of you. I’ll be recording this one in Atlanta with some incredibly talented friends I can’t wait to bring together.

As before, the album is available to pre-order in a variety of formats. You can also add handmade art, an album-specific T-shirt — and this time, I’m offering a house concert for you and your friends.

Truth be told, I need to get busy.

When my companion pup Opie passed away suddenly from cancer in May, I just quit. I canceled my tour. I went dark.

Life will come for you and break your heart open again and again. Putting it back together is part of the process. I’m grateful to have a practice whose purpose is just that. It’s humbling, strangely life-affirming, and at times profound.

I want to love deeply. Share my songs. Sing my heart out. Travel. Keep doing the work I’ve been fortunate to do all these years.

Whatever I may have lost along the way, I’ve always gained so much more. This path is uncertain, but I’m constantly buoyed by the energy I receive from sharing my craft with you. I truly can’t thank you enough.

This Kickstarter lasts 30 days and ends April 4th. It’s a big ask — but I believe we can do this together.

I hope to finish writing and begin recording next month, with a release later this year.

I’ve also just launched a Substack where I’ll document the process and share behind-the-scenes from the studio. Kickstarter supporters will get immediate access. More soon on that.

Thank you for so many years of support.

– Christopher

And thank you especially to my mother and father, who brought me into this insane and beautiful sphere on a sunny Friday at noon on the 29th parallel in 1982.

🕊️ Gone one year ago today, but still making me laugh. No one loved bath time more than Opie. When I first brought her home that may have been the first place she ever felt loved. Often she would sit in the bathtub and whimper until I’d come in and suds her up. I’ll be taking a very long bath today in her honor.
She was a very very good girl.

🪶A massive thank you to everyone who has supported the Kickstarter pre-order for the new record so far. I know times are tough and money is scarce, and I’m very grateful for the support. Update: Currently we are sitting at about 35% funded with 85 backers and 23 days to go. It’s an all or nothing campaign and it ends on 3/20 at 11:11pm. Here’s a little view of my chaotic but colorful home today while I’m sitting here working at these new songs and where I’ll be recording the record (most likely). The hardest part about these sort of campaigns in addition to the stress of knowing it could not work out, is usually just having to be a bit more online than one would like, but here we are, and in the end being able to make a real record with real people and mail them out to you guys makes it very much worth it. I hope you’re having a great week so far.

Friends! Thank you! The Kickstarter pre-order for a new album that I launched yesterday is 30% funded with 59 backers in just 24 hrs. It’s still gonna be a fight, but so is everything we care about on this fragile earth of ours. I love you all, thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday. Truth be told, I had wanted my 8th album to be just instrumental, but I’ve decided to push that effort down the road a bit… this album will have 2 or 3 instrumentals though, and this isn’t necessarily one of them. I hope you’ll check out the kickstarter at link in bio and share it with some friends. It ends on 3/20 at 11:11pm.

Matt Arnett (@groceryonhome) is fighting an aggressive cancer, and our community could use your help. Matt is THE most generous person I know, and I’m honored to call him my very best friend. He’s a tireless supporter of artists, and cultivates community everywhere he goes. His default is to never ask for help, but to always be at the front of the line when help is needed. Anyone who knows him knows that I don’t exaggerate in the least. Matt is a starting chemo and expensive immunotherapy on Friday that is not covered. Please join the Beloved Community helping out, We’ve started a GOFUNDME (link in bio). I tell you every day buddy, but it bears repeating, I love you so much. Thanks so much to @bradlichtenstein and @adbasting for launching the gofundme.
We’ve got you and @verginger every step of the way. #honkifyouknowmattarnett taken in Grocery On Home by @c_p_stelling

I’d like to thank these two, who give so much and ask so little. 71 and 84 years old respectively. Still crossing boarders, weathering the roads, holding tune, and getting better every day.
Born in Pennsylvania, where we play tonight at @funhouseatmrsmalls @mrsmallstheatre.
