Özgür Kar
Death playing the clarinet (from DAWN), 2023
2-channel 4K video with sound, 2 75” TVs, media players, vertical wall mounts, cables
duration: 13:00 min (looped)
332.2 x 187 cm (130 3/4 x 73 5/8 inches)

October 2026 - January 2027

Curator : David Southard

Özgür Kar’s Death playing the clarinet (from DAWN) (2023) forms part of the artist’s ongoing exploration of exhibition-making as theatre. Across two vertically stacked screens, the figure of Death plays a clarinet in a looping performance that draws together animation, sound and the absurdity of the danse macabre. Kar’s works use animated characters as performers, developing fragmented, non-linear narratives around mortality and anxiety in contemporary life.

Pilgrimage - Frieze Vol 3
14-18th October

For 2026, @sessionsartsclub space is titled Pilgrimage, taking its starting point from a series of sunset paintings made by @jonny_gent in 2015 and the book The Way of Wyrd by Brian Bates. Conceived and creatively directed through @cabin____studio - collaborators have been invited to respond to different parts of the sunrise to sunset journey, through its four founding pillars: food, music, art and supplies.

Spearheaded by @cabin____studio - @lostwines brings back wines that have been lost or abandoned, left in cellars for years, sometimes decades. The project focuses on rediscovering remarkable bottles from forgotten corners of the world , often sourced from small producers and overlooked vineyards.

Working alongside @sophieliverman , Head of Wine at Sessions Arts Club, @jonny_gent and his team partner closely with winemakers to give these overlooked bottles a new life. Each edition is hand-labelled, individually numbered, and tells the story of the grape, the land, and the people behind it.

This Rosé is made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes grown at the Smith & Evans vineyard in Somerset, and was produced at @langhamwinery in Dorset - where it was subsequently “lost” in storage. It spent around 36 hours on the skins, was fermented in oak, and left unfiltered, resulting in a very hands-off approach. In the glass, it shows a hazy pink-orange hue, with a fresh, fleshy character and a subtle herbal note on the palate. The wine was originally commissioned by a sommelier who intended to create his own label, but he later became unreachable. As a result, the bottles were left in the cellar for years, quietly ageing until being rediscovered through the project.

Thank you

On Sunday 26th July, Sessions Arts Club will welcome London-based pastry chef @gabbergrams for a special one-day takeover of its much-loved Dessert Trolley.

Celebrating the height of the British summer, Rose has created an exclusive selection of desserts that showcase seasonal fruit, nostalgic flavours and classic European influences, all served from the restaurant’s signature trolley.

Rose Gabbertas is a London based pastry chef. She began her career at St. John Smithfield, where she headed up the pastry section whilst studying for an MA in Anthropology of Food. In 2024 she moved to work with James Lowe at Lyle’s. She has since worked at Violet Bakery and Spring, and now runs the pastry section at the @gardenmuseumcafe in Lambeth. Her cooking focuses heavily on celebrating seasonal British produce, finding inspiration in both historical, regional recipes and kitsch culinary aesthetic.
